At the Niels Bohr Institute at University of Copenhagen we currently have a job opening as PhD fellow within experimental quantum photonics. Employment date is August 1st, 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Description of the Scientific Environment
The position is embedded in the Quantum Photonics Group within the Center of Excellence “Hybrid Quantum Networks Hy-Q”. We carry out fundamental and applied research on solid-state quantum-information processing with solid-state quantum emitters embedded in photonic nanostructures. The quest of the current research programme is to scale the basic quantum functionalities to obtain large and complex quantum networks.
Project description
The current PhD project concerns applying single-photon quantum hardware for proof-of-concept quantum simulations. We will apply the high-quality single-photon sources based on quantum dots in photonic nanostructures to produce 4-8 high-quality single photons on demand. These sources will be coupled to advanced photonic circuits. Furthermore, we will exploit the intrinsic photon nonlinear response of a quantum dot to enable new quantum operations.
Job description
The PhD position is for a 3-year period and your key tasks as a PhD student at Science are:
Formal requirements
Applicants should have an MSc degree in physics or engineering with good results and good English skills. As criteria for the assessment of your qualifications emphasis will also be laid on previous publications (if any) and relevant work experience.
Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
