We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with an excellent academic background in Neuroscience, for a 3-year position with a start date of February 1, 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter.
You will join the group of Morgane Thomsen alongside PhD students, Master’s students, and research technicians/assistants. We seek to identify and develop targets for alcohol and substance use disorders. This project investigates the effects of cholinergic muscarinic receptor M1 ligands on cocaine-taking behavior and on cocaine-induced neurochemical, electrophysiological, and neurocognitive alterations. Our work is highly collaborative and involves groups at the University of Copenhagen, Vanderbilt University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Yale, Harvard, MIT, and the NIH. You will be responsible for carrying out experiments using various methodologies including intravenous self-administration, in vivo microdialysis, ultrasonic vocalization analysis, and fiber photometry.

Essential experience and skills:
- Hold a PhD in Neuroscience or a related field
- Experience with in vivo viral-mediated optical techniques (fiber photometry, optogenetics), including surgical techniques and data analysis, and/or with behavioral studies such as intravenous self-administration
- Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to generate precise, reliable data and interpret them, working both independently and as part of the team in a collaborative environment
Highly desirable experience and skills:
- Authorized to work with laboratory animals (i.e., have completed course in Laboratory Animal Science, FELASA accredited). Applicants who do not hold this certification will be required to complete it before starting any laboratory work.
- Excellent written English skills and good oral English skills
- A track record of productivity evidenced by publications in international scientific journals
