Objectives and Scope of Position:

  • A key senior role to drive the generation and execution of Roche’s Multiple Sclerosis and broader NeuroImmunology medical strategy, and to help shape the future of our commitments in NeuroImmunology innovation

  • Globally networked and internationally operating with a strong external focus and scientific collaborations with the respective Therapeutic Area Experts community as well as close collaboration with the global- and affiliate medical teams

  • Strongly enhances our scientific exchange, medical insights generation as well as dissemination and evidence generation efforts

  • Operates utilizing agile mindset and methodologies embracing principles of modern working behaviors and organizations including self-organization, co-creation, and strong collaboration (see eg: Reinventing Organizations, Frederic Laloux | Nelson Parker © 2014; McKinsey Agile Organizations)

  • Deep disease area scientific and clinical expertise and network required as a physician-scientist in the field of Multiple Sclerosis and/or NeuroImmunology


Summary of Main Responsibilities and Requirements:

Insight Generation, Evidence Generation, and Medical Dissemination:

  • Support of Clinical /Medical insights generation activities

  • Responsibilities for research collaborations and data generation activities, including data analyses, interpretation and scientific dissemination, with a strong focus on clinical practice and innovation.

  • Evaluation of external research and collaboration proposals and opportunities

  • Provision of medical expertise, shaping, and execution of the medical dissemination (publication/education) strategy including championing of publications. Advancing the understanding of MS and its treatment (internally and externally)

  • Medical expertise for global and Affiliate cross-functional stakeholders, as well as the provision of medical information services for Health-Care Professionals (HCPs)



Compliance:

  • Responsible for acting in line with legal, regulatory, industry and company standards and codes of practice (such as Roche Code of Conduct and any other Roche directives and guidelines)

  • Completes all required training modules as a priority


Agility:

  • Utilizes and models modern ways of working consistently with an agile mindset, behaviors, and methodologies (e.g. McKinsey Agile Organizations)

  • Encourages and coaches others to evolve their agile ways of working

  • Ensure co-creation, work cross-functionally & cross-geographies

Professional and Technical Requirements:

  • MD with relevant scientific and clinical experience in a field of Multiple Sclerosis/ Neuroimmunology.

  • Proven track record of scientific achievements as well as a strong network in the field of Multiple Sclerosis and/or NeuroImmunology

  • Clinical practice experience in the field of MS/Neuroinflammation.

  • Experience in data generation within or outside the biopharmaceutical industry

  • Experience of writing peer-reviewed scientific publications as a lead author

  • Experience of partnership with therapeutic area experts and external organizations in the field of MS/NeuroImmunology

Context and responsibility

  • Working time will comprise office- as well as community-based activities (requires international travel) with visits to Roche Head Office in Basel as needed

  • Representation of the global/international Roche Medical MS/Neuroinflammation Team in the international MS community and within Roche Affiliates as needed and appropriate

  • Strong collaboration with global and affiliate partners (e.g. medical, early and late-stage development, commercial, market access, safety, regulatory and government affairs functions

  • Flexible location: may be based out of Basel, CH, or within the main geographical focus area of responsibility



Outputs

  • Member of the Global Multiple Sclerosis/NeuroImmunology Product Development Medical Affairs team

  • Membership of Data Strategy Group, publications or study management teams as needed

  • Provision of relevant Disease area insights and expertise

  • Input into joint planning and execution of the MS/Neuroinflammation medical and integrated Strategy

  • Establishes and maintains contacts to Therapeutic Area Experts, Societies and Collaborative Research Groups/Networks as appropriate

  • Research collaboration project leadership and publication championing/ authorship
