About the department
In the Department of Stem Cell Delivery & Pharmacology in Måløv, Copenhagen Area, Denmark, you will be part of the Novo Nordisk Stem Cell R&D unit. We work closely with our two research sister-departments, Stem Cell Biology and Stem Cell Discovery, to drive and support projects within stem cell therapy for serious chronic diseases. You will be part of a dedicated cross-functional team of 6 colleagues (in a department of 19 colleagues in total) dedicated to support all projects, investigating and optimizing cell delivery techniques and processes in different disease indications. The focus of our cell delivery team is thus to bridge between our in vivo pharmacology team executing the animal work and our in vitro cell biology teams developing stem cell differentiation protocols and generating the differentiated cells. In doing this, you will work closely with both the project teams as well as our external collaborators.
We focus on collaboration, both internally and with external academic and non-academic groups, to progress development of stem cell-based therapies. The position
As our new Senior Scientist in Cell Delivery you will initiate, manage and execute in vitro studies to test and characterize cells in biomaterials, identify and optimize injection-based techniques and work with 3D bio-printing. Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with Novo Nordisk colleagues inside and outside Stem Cell R&D and external collaborators on development and characterization of the biomaterials and delivery techniques. You will be a key player in building up our internal expertise within cell delivery and play a central role in developing and optimizing the way we transplant our cells in a controlled, reproducible process, supporting viability, functionality and successful engraftment in our animal models with the aim of translating into the clinic.

You will be encouraged to bring forward new ideas to management, both in relation to cell delivery as well as potential new stem cell projects. You will be expected to seek knowledge and expand your skills within novel therapy areas as we progress with new projects and scientific challenges.

Qualification
You have a PhD from a relevant field within Life Sciences and a background in cell biology. You have solid experience working hands-on within the interdisciplinary field of cell biology, bio-materials and cell transplantation, possibly a flair for engineering and a strong focus on quality and reproducibility of data and processes. Knowledge within biomaterial engineering is an advantage but not a requirement. You are experienced in performing cell-based in vitro assays characterizing e.g. viability, migration and cell growth, and capable of implementing and optimizing new relevant assays. You are a strong communicator with high energy to influence and collaborate with external and internal key stakeholders and confident in English, both verbally and written. We value that you are:
