A position as Professor in Global Health is vacant at the Bandim Health Project, OPEN, Department of Clinical Research, University of Southern Denmark.
For the past 43 years, the Bandim Health Project has conducted research based on a health and demographic surveillance system (HDSS) in Guinea-Bissau (www.bandim.org).
The position will run from November 1, 2021, or as soon as possible thereafter.
Research profile and tasks
The main task for the new professor will be to strengthen and promote research in real-life evaluation of health interventions within and beyond the HDSS of the Bandim Health Project.
A strong publication record and significant experience in raising external funding wil be required.
The candidate will also be expected to contribute to running and strengthening the Bandim HDSS in Guinea-Bissau. Collaboration with local stakeholders will be encouraged.
Research qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a DMSc, a PhD, or equivalent in health sciences.
The applicant must be well qualified with a strong research profile in epidemiology and global health.
Commitment to international collaborations, interdisciplinary research, science communication and the ability to lead a research group, including supervision of master’s students, PhD students and postdocs, will be required.
Experience with health intervention evaluation and with implementing studies in LMIC will be be an advantage.
Teaching commitments
The teaching commitments will be in global health and epidemiology. The candidate will be expected to mentor, supervise, and support junior colleagues, graduate and PhD students, pursuing their Master’s and PhD degrees.
Teaching qualifications
The candidate will be expected to possess teaching qualifications corresponding to those obtained as an associate professor.
