A combined position as Associate Professor (50%) (or Assistant professor (50%)) is vacant at Cochrane Denmark and at the Centre for Evidence-Based medicine, Department of Clinical Research, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), in combination with a position as consultant (50%) at the Department of Gynaecology, Odense University hospital-Svendborg Hospital (OUH).
Cochrane Denmark and Centre for Evidence-Based medicine, SDU
Cochrane Denmark (formerly the Nordic Cochrane Centre) and Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine Odense function as a joint research unit at the Department of Clinical Research, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Denmark. Cochrane Denmark conducts research relevant for systematic reviews, promotes Cochrane, and supports authors of Cochrane Reviews in Denmark. The Centre for Evidence Based Medicine Odense (CEBMO) conducts research, teaches, and provides a methodological consultancy service.
The position involves research within the area of interest of the centre (50%), pre-graduate and postgraduate guidance and teaching (40%) and administration (10%).
The job involves research, professional development, research education, teaching, including exams, supervision, and assessment work within the field of evidence-based medicine.
Department of Gynaecology, OUH
The Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics will relocate to the new OUH in a few years. During this transition the consultant must ensure that the principles of evidence-based medicine are applied in the reorganization and optimization of treatment for larger groups of patients. Moreover, the consultant must ensure an overall overview of quality in assessment and treatment - including coordinating efforts addressing handling of unintended events.
The Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics is part of Odense University Hospital which serves the entire Region of Southern Denmark wherever highly specialized treatment is needed. We have highly specialized functions within all the subspecialties. This provides a unique opportunity for close collaboration across subspecialties in both clinic and research. We have a very close and easily accessible collaboration with SDU and a very active research unit with currently eight gynecological-obstetrical professorships attached.
The department is located at both OUH Odense University Hospital in Odense and at Svendborg Hospital. For the current position, the main function will be in Odense. The person employed in the position can be assigned to a special function within the gynecologic team based on personal interests.
The permanent medical staff within the gynecological team currently consists of eight chief physicians and two consultants and one fellow.
Assessment for this position will be made based on the applicants' information which must be presented within each of the seven physician roles.
Expectations and qualifications
The associate professor must be employed as a consultant at the Department of Gynaecology, OUH.
The associate professor must have documented research experience within the areas of evidence-based medicine.
In addition, good cooperation skills will be expected in order to further the development of research in the areas mentioned above, both interdisciplinary as well as nationally and internationally.
Danish language skills are not required initially, however, should be mastered within the first 2 years of employment.

The associate professor will refer to the Head of the Department Torben Munk in matters concerning the clinical part of the job, and to the head of the centre Asbjørn Hróbjartsson, and the Head of the Department of Clinical Research, Kirsten Ohm Kyvik, in matters regarding the associate professorship.

Salary and terms of employment
With regard to the academic position, the applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
With regard to the clinical position, the applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Regions and the association of Specialist Physicians.
