A two-year postdoc position, starting in January 2023, is available in the research team of Astrid Eichhorn. Application deadline: 24 November 2022.
The focus of the position is on inferring new insights in fundamental physics, in particular gravity theory beyond General Relativity, from black holes.
The research team - consisting of several PhD students, postdocs, long-term visitors and master students - explores questions in quantum gravity and beyond, with a particular focus on asymptotically safe gravity, causal sets, the phenomenology of quantum gravity and black-hole images. The team is actively involved in the fundamental-physics working group of the next-generation Event Horizon Telescope.
The broader, vibrant research environment at CP3-Origins contains researchers working on particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology.
The ideal candidate brings in-depth expertise on theoretical properties of black-hole space times beyond General Relativity, together with expertise relevant for the ngEHT, e.g. on calculating and analysing synthetic black-hole images.
For further information please contact Associate Professor Astrid Eichhorn [email protected].
