Declaration of interest regarding PhD project:
The Department of Neurobiology Research, Institute of Molecular Medicine at SDU is looking for applicants for a PhD scholarship within the field of Neuroscience.
We are looking for a person with a relevant degree in Biomedicine, Molecular Biology, Human Biology, or Medicine (MSc or MD)
Research environment
In our laboratory we are studying cardiometabolic diseases, such as stroke to try to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms that contribute to impaired functional outcome. We have primarily one main research objective, which is to study the neuro-inflammatory response that occurs following ischemic stroke with the aim to contribute to the development of novel therapies for stroke and SCI patients.
Project description
Ischemic stroke (IS) is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide. Early reperfusion is imperative to improve the final clinical outcome. However, this re-establishment is only offered to https://www.SDU.dk/en/forskning/phd/phd_skoler/phdskolensundhedsvidenskab/for_future_students/application_for_enrollment
Experience with animal models for ischemic stroke and behavioural tests is an advantage. The candidate is expected to have experience with molecular techniques, such as qPCR, ELISA, and Western blotting. Experience with immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, in vitro cell cultures, and bioinformatics is an advantage.
The candidate is expected to spend time at Stanford University, CA, USA, and therefore must meet the criteria for obtaining a non-immigrant work visa to the USA.
For further information about the project, please contact:
Professor Kate Lykke Lambertsen
