The laboratory of Kate Lykke Lambertsen, Neurobiology Research Unit at the Department of Molecular Medicine, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to work in the field of neuroinflammation in cardiometabolic diseases.

The starting date is January 1, 2024, and the initial contract is for one year with the possibility of extension.

The applicant will be expected to conduct his/her research in neuroscience with a focus on understanding the role of the innate immune system in cardiometabolic risk factors for ischemic stroke. The applicant will be expected to explore the potential of modulating the central and peripheral innate immune response after ischemic stroke to identify novel therapeutic targets against the inflammatory response.

The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for the planning of the project as well as data acquisition, preparation and analysis, manuscript writing, and other activities for disseminating the results. The candidate will also be expected to apply for research funding from external funding agencies.

The successful applicant will be expected to have:

  1. Obtained a Ph.D. in a relevant area, e.g., biological, and biomedical sciences, neuroscience, molecular biology, or another closely related discipline.
  2. Proven experience and knowledge with in vitro models of culturing human cells and experience with flow cytometry are major requirements.
  3. Ability to work structured and independently.
  4. Good communication skills and high proficiency in English.
  5. Good collaborative and social abilities.
  6. Prior experience with scRNAseq and bioinformatics is considered a plus.
