A PhD stipend is open for appointment in a joint position between the Danish R&D intensive tech-company ReMoni and the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of the Built Environment at Aalborg University.
After a successful PhD, the candidate will have good opportunities to choose a career in academia or in ReMoni.
Qualifications
The purpose of the project is to demonstrate in practice that radon level control in homes, using Internet-of-Things (IoT) sensors and a new advanced data processing software, can improve the indoor climate, while ensuring energy-efficiency. The aim of the project is to choose a highly reliable sensor technology to make real-time measurements of radon (less than an hour period) and to develop algorithms to model radon levels together with other sensors, i.e. CO2, relative humidity, temperature, pressure differences and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and integration to control of the ventilation in the building. In the project, we will design, build a prototype and verify the concept and technology in a real-life environment, with direct daily help from the ReMoni team of experienced engineers in the field.
You may obtain further information from Dr. Bo Eskerod Madsen [email protected].
To apply, please send the following documents (in English, pdf format):
• Motivation letter (max 1 page) outlining your qualifications and motivation to conduct this project
• CV including a list of scientific outputs (e.g. thesis, projects, papers, etc.) and contact info for two academic references

• Copy of MSc diploma, if available.
• Copy of Master thesis (in any language) if available.
• Recommendation letter (1 page), if available.
PhD stipends are allocated to individuals who hold a Master's degree in Data-science, Computer-science or Electrical Engineering, and has in-depth knowledge and experience on sensor related software technologies and a strong interest in their uses in the building services systems. To ensure a strong working environment and support, the student will work in the ReMoni team three days a week, where the student will have direct access to the ReMoni team of developers and lab. ReMoni is located in Skanderborg south of Aarhus. Most of the work will be done physical at ReMoni, and the PhD student will be co-supervised by the engineers and data scientists at ReMoni.
