The Center for Industrial Electronics, Mads Clausen Institute invites applications for a position as PostDoc in the field of power electronics with focus on gate drivers. The position is available starting March 1st, 2020 or as soon as possible.

The research will be linked to the PE:Region Platform project, that is a European Union funded cross border project in the field of sustainable and advanced power electronics.

The characteristics of gate drivers significantly influence the performance of power electronic systems. In this project new concepts for gate drivers will be investigated and tested to improve the overall performance of motor drives. The project will be in close cooperation with local industry partners.

What we offer:

  • You will conduct research on the use of simulation, hardware design, programing and testing.
  • You will be responsible for the daily supervision of Master and Bachelor students that perform research on this topic.
  • You will support teaching activities in the Center for Industrial Electronics.
  • You will participate in a European research project (both in collaboration with industry and other universities).
  • You will publish and present your work both at international conferences and in scientific journals with high impact.
  • You will assist in writing research grants for various national and European funding agencies (e.g., H2020, DFF, IFD).

What we expect:

  • You have (or will receive within the next few months) a PhD degree in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • You have published in high-impact conferences and journals in the broad field of Power Electronics.
  • You are a team player and have strong communication skills.
  • You are fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • A track record in first teaching experiences is a plus.
  • You have knowledge of and experience with power electronic inverter and gate driver design.

Workplace description:

The cross-border region Denmark-Germany is turning into a powerhouse in industrial electronics. Very recently, the Centre for Industrial Electronics (CIE) at University of Southern Denmark (SDU) was established by a strong partnership between industry, academia and regional authorities. CIE is located at the campus of SDU Sønderborg and surrounded by a vibrant industrial environment. CIE is part of the section SDU Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering.

Centre for Industrial Electronics is focusing on long term employment relations, and we will offer good support for the PostDocs’ academic and personal development.
