A position as Head of Research Unit at the Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital Is open for appointment from 1 February 2022.
The position is combined with a Professorship in Evidence-based Physiotherapy at the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics at the University of Southern Denmark.
With this position the Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, Herlev and Gentofte Hospital wishes to develop and strengthen clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Southern Denmark.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment for both the Professorship and the position as Head of Research.
About the Department The ward's 130 therapists, on an evidence-based basis, assess, treat, rehabilitate and advise patients who have suffered a disability in connection with illness and / or injuries.
Our goal is that our patients can regain their previous ability to function as much as possible and can be able to cope with ordinary daily chores.
We handle the treatment of inpatients in the clinical wards, as well as patients in outpatient care.
The department therefore contributes to appropriate and efficient patient care in all clinical departments.
In addition to patient care, which is our core service, we also place a high value on education and research.

Research and Teaching The Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy strive at offering evidence-based services for the patients, but are aware of the fact, that we often must support the evidence through our own research. The applicant must therefore be able to initiate, conduct and implement research within the area of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.
About the collaboration The successful applicant will be head of the Research Unit for Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital and must be proactive and lead the development of the research unit with focus on clinical research in patients admitted to the hospital and cross sectoral treatment. Further, the applicant will be part of the Research Unit for Musculoskeletal Function and Physiotherapy (SDU) where the professor’s main tasks will be to conduct research, including scientific publications and communication, and participation in knowledge exchange with the society. In particular, the professor will be expected to be a driving force in evidence synthesis research and teaching and management at the Master-program in physiotherapy.
Qualifications The applicant must have a degree and a Danish authorization to work as a physiotherapist.
The applicant is furthermore expected to demonstrate highly profiled research and extensive experience in publication at the highest international level within the area of evidence-based medicine and physiotherapy, as well as in research management and strategic development. In addition, the applicant, must have documented experience in supervision and teaching at all levels, as well as study administration.
Applicants fulfilling more or all of the following will be prioritized:
Conditions In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to the Faculty (for both the professorship and Head of Research). Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital.
Salary and conditions of employment as Head of Research are as agreed in the collective agreement between the Danish Regions and The Association of Danish Physiotherapists.
As Head of Research and Professor the working time will be divided between the Herlev and Gentofte Hospital (50 %) and The University of Southern Denmark (50%).

- A strong methodological background in systematic reviews and meta-analysis
- A strong track record of participation in international networks and task forces is an advantage
- International collaboration with key institutions within evidence synthesis.
