København K
At the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS) the two departments, Near Surface Land and Marin Geology (SURFACE) in Aarhus and Geophysics and Sedimentary Basins (GEOPHYSICS) in Copenhagen are deeply involved in supplying knowledge on the underground for the green transition agenda. In this context, one or two positions are now made available within the area of seismic data processing, acquisition, and analysis.
Based in separate departments and locations (Copenhagen and Aarhus) and our new colleague/colleagues will in collaboration be central in strengthening GEUS seismic processing, surveying, and analytical capabilities together with the rest of the geophysicists in GEUS.
Job description
You will be an integrated part of a scientific working environment where your skills within seismic data processing are a key qualification. For the positions emphasis is also placed on experience on survey design, planning and execution of seismic surveys onshore and offshore. You will be collaborating with the existing teams of geoscientific researchers working both on shallow and deep seismic mapping and surveying offshore and onshore.
GEUS is a national survey with a significant focus on Denmark and Greenland, but having a substantial global outreach, giving you a possibility to participate in projects both locally and globally. We intend to tailor the concrete position to the individual applicant's background and interests. In your work you will have the opportunity to collaborate with several groups both researching in methodology development within this area, utilizing industry software or collaborate with external parties.
In the departments we work with several different software packages eg ProMAX, MatLab, Python, ArcGIS, Hampson-Russell, Petrel, Geographix/Kingdom Suite, SonarWiz. We are looking into unifying the software portfolio and, you will become a key stakeholder in selecting the software used by both departments for processing and interpretation, supporting even more knowledge sharing and joint project development.
For the coming years, GEUS is looking into a wide range of new, exiting projects for several purposes both on- and offshore. In addition to pure geological research projects, examples are mapping and surveying for deep geothermal energy resources, CO2 storage, shallow delineation of sand and gravel deposit, geotechnical applications, etc. A shared focus is on reducing risks and providing insights for better decision support.
Your qualifications
A relevant degree within geophysics or geology and experience within seismic data processing and acquisition. Interest in seismic software tools and data acquisition is a requirement. Special consideration will be given to the applicant who can be an efficient team worker and has good communication skills.
