Graphic designer for user communication in medical devices

About the department

Device Research & Development has a long and outstanding track-record of developing the best, most innovative and widely-used injection devices in the world. Our team, User Communication, consists of 15 highly dedicated colleagues with a shared passion for user communication. It is our responsibility to develop and maintain instructions for use for Novo Nordisk medical devices, ensuring correct and safe use of our products in accordance with international standards, regulatory requirements and the best user experience.

The job

Your primary task will be to deliver graphic design solutions for a range of different device projects (instruction manuals, animations, app screens etc.).

We are on the verge of moving our user communication from only print to more digital based platforms. Therefore, we are seeking a profile that can deliver graphic input for both digital and print.

Our methods are based on iterative development all the way from early prototypes to user testing, concept presentations, concept refinement and ultimately product submissions to healthcare authorities.

Examples of your tasks are:

• Prototyping and development of illustrations for user instructions for our devices - for both print and digital
• Wireframing and app screen development
• Refinement of existing illustrations, and documentation of version changes
• Fast iterations of stimuli for user testing & user research
• Posters & presentations for internal concept communication and decision making
• Developing concepts, providing concept recommendations and arguments

You will work closely with our current graphic designer and in teams with our user communication experts as well as the industrial design leads and engineers, where you will cooperate to deliver towards the intended design values and requirements. You will be expected to work independently and take ownership for driving the development of your deliverables.

Qualifications
We are looking for a colleague who is passionate about illustration and visual communication. To thrive in our culture it is important that you are self-driven, have a positive and constructive approach towards challenges and boundaries in design, can be inspired by sometimes designing under fixed frameworks and design manuals. Proficiency in oral and written English is necessary as the corporate language is English.

You are proficient in Adobe CS and in prototyping and development tools for App demo (e.g. Invision, Sketch). Further, you are proficient and familiar with visual communication e.g. using hand sketching, that you later develop into high fidelity concepts in illustrator. You find it natural to cooperate with others – and you thrive in translating their ideas into workable designs, even if it involves balancing and challenging contradictory demands from different professions.

A degree in graphic design is preferred, but not a requirement. You might be relatively newly educated or have a couple of years of experience. The main driver is that you have the right mindset and skills.
