As Category Manager in the Procurement function you will have the opportunity to develop several key category strategies for the mid to long term for Maersk within your category scope, and to plan, coordinate and lead complex negotiations and tender processes with a broad range of suppliers to support and provide the required services and goods to operate our vessel fleet.
You will be expected to establish collaborative and strong supplier relationships with some of the critical suppliers for Maersk.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Copenhagen, Denmark and reporting to the Head of Provisions and Consumables. Although currently working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the position will ultimately return to the office.

This is an exciting time to join A.P. Møller - Maersk, and you will have the opportunity to directly impact the business through developing key operational category strategies that will guide the journey for the years to come.
Within this scope, your responsibilities would include:
• Global ownership of the categories;, Personal Protection Equipment and medicines executing the required contract management responsibilities, as well as taking lead and ownership on commercial negotiations and tender process;
• Be the focal point for local category management matters with our internal customers;
• Developing and executing procurement/sourcing strategies for the above categories;
• Mapping, analyzing and interpreting data on current spend patterns, identifying cost drivers and opportunities in complex marketplaces.
• Lead negotiation of contracts and support with its execution – KPIs definition, performance reviews, supplier relationship management, resolution of disputes and contractual deviations;
• Pro-actively get input from relevant stakeholders, as well as to develop solid collaboration for cross-functional execution.
• Supporting our Supply Chain teams with optimizing our drive for automation and review of current logistics patterns to develop potential new strategies.
• Responsibility for keeping our digital platforms updated in terms of prices, contracts or other commercial terms within the categories of scope.
This position is well-suited to an individual with strong interpersonal skills, capable of developing and influencing internal and external relationships, as well as with a natural drive.
Your educational background is BSc or MSc in Business, Supply Chain Management, or similar combined with solid procurement and project management experience.
You must have a proven track record of strong negotiation and analytical skills, and you are able to navigate in an international matrix organization.
Experience in operational environments or a consultancy background within operationally driven businesses will be considered an advantage.
Furthermore you:
• Are a team player, who understands the importance of stakeholder management, can build rapport even in challenging situations and can encourage and influence others without authority
• Are able to take ownership, work independently in a structured manner and get concrete results. Consequentially, showing the ability to prioritize and manage the workload to meet demanding business needs while keeping the mid to long term view and vision is essential for success
• Have a strong sense of urgency and drive to deliver quality in your work, and you are flexible in adapting when priorities change. You feel comfortable challenging the status quo and are motivated to drive improvements.
• Are service-minded and driven by the opportunity to provide first class support/value to our stakeholders
• Are not afraid of getting your hands dirty and work manually with processes
• Are an excellent communicator in English both in writing and in speaking.
