We offer


You will join as Construction Category Manager for real estate developments of our industrial and logistics real estate projects across the world, particularly focusing on greenfield developments and project management, while also taking part in developing the strategy for this category.

The overall real estate strategy targets significant growth within Contract Logistics but at the same time securing efficient and effective real estate assets for our business and colleagues. Typical projects in CREM include finding the right strategy for our assets (lease, own, develop), investments, divestments, lease acquisitions, but specific for this role will be the focus on construction and development of new warehouses.

The candidate will join the team in CREM as Category Manager for our Industrial and Logistics real estate and will be responsible for the development of this role both internally in CREM and in the Maersk organization. Thus, previous experience within construction management/real estate development within the Industrial and Logistics category is a must. The role entails a global scope of the Maersk warehousing sector and requires participation in the development of a structured and competitive strategy.

In CREM you will be part of a team that is primarily based in Copenhagen and you will report to the Head of CREM. CREM is part of Maersk Procurement, Indirect Category Management but this role will be fully integrated with the product and business organizations.

The role is based in Copenhagen - some business travel should be expected.

Key responsibilities


• Developing, participating, and executing on the CREM warehouse agenda, and support the ambitious growth strategy for this category
• Manage and execute global construction and real estate development projects
• Be the key responsible for developing the global process for construction projects including defining and implementing the internal Maersk procedures
• Support cooperation with the engineers, architects, contractors, advisors and other relevant parties to maintain full awareness of issues which may impact safety, scope, progress, interfaces, milestones and/or budget.
• Structuring and leading end to end tendering and RFI / RFP projects
• Take part in delivering key logistics solutions to our customers
• Track construction projects globally against the approved baseline and, where appropriate, ensure issues are pro-actively addressed, escalated and resolved
• Global Supplier Relationship Management of large market players
• Engaging a large community of stakeholders, often at senior level, both internally and externally
• Playing an active role contributing to the overall Maersk Real Estate Strategy
• Deliver on profit and savings targets

We are looking for


Ideally, we are looking for a candidate with:

• Minimum 5 years of real estate experience, preferably with relevant experience in engineering and/or construction project related environment of global nature
• A strong understanding of design and construction processes built on a solid foundation of technical engineering skills
• Experience of managing large scale infrastructure construction projects with clear responsibility on achieving safety, time and budget targets is considered a plus.
• Multinational corporate and/or warehouse developments experience will be especially noted.
• You have a construction, legal, finance or business-related education

You need to possess refined communication and interpersonal skills. You get excited by taking an active part in transforming our organization to further support our customer’s needs. You are open-minded and you challenge both your surroundings and yourself, in order to continuously improve and reach the next level within Corporate Real Estate. You have a strong personal drive and you will take an active part in the execution needed.

You are good at solving complex business problems in a structured and analytical manner, e.g. via project management and negotiations. You can conduct deep financial analysis and effectively communicating the conclusions, e.g. making executive summaries of possible strategies for presentation to senior management.
