About the job

DRC, one of the world’s leading international NGOs, is in the process of reinforcing people policies and practices, as we transform into a more digital organization, prepared to face future challenges and demands. Our goal is to build a stable, yet agile, organization to create a positive impact for some of the world’s most vulnerable people. The HR Partner will play a role in this journey, with two primary responsibilities.

First, you will be responsible for providing professional, high-quality and service-oriented HR support to a portfolio of DRC’s regional and country operations, working primarily with senior field managers and our regional and country-based HR colleagues. The geographic focus for this position is Europe, Asia and the Americas.

Second, you will lead or support the development of select operational HR policies and procedures for DRC’s global operations to support roll-out and change management in these areas. To deliver both services, you will work closely and constructively with relevant partners within the organization.

As HR Partner you will perform the following tasks:

  • Support the development of key HR operational tools, policies and procedures;
  • Take the lead in drafting guidelines, procedures and other operational HR documents;
  • Within your geographic area of responsibility, ensure that HR processes are executed professionally, in time and with the highest quality and service orientation;
  • Facilitate roll out of important organizational change processes within your geographic area;
  • Advise and coach managers on the application of HR policies, procedures etc.;
  • Handle sensitive cases with professionalism and discretion;
  • Prioritize and respond to requests for support from field operations in a timely manner.

You will be part of the International HR Team, consisting of 9 professional and friendly HR colleagues, in turn making part of the larger HQ HR Department (20+ staff). You will report to the Head of HR for International Operations.

About you:

We expect you to have several years’ experience with international HR and keen to keep growing and developing professionally. You are a motivated self-starter who is focused on delivering high-quality service and results to your clients, always looking for innovative ways to approach a challenge and comfortable bringing these ideas to your colleagues and manager. You are an excellent communicator who can listen to different views, helping to translate them into actionable policies and procedures. You are analytical and enjoy sparring with colleagues and managers to raise the bar continuously within the team.

Moreover, we expect you to have:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in providing HR support to decision makers, with an international company or organization;
  • At least 2 years’ experience developing and drafting HR policies and procedures;
  • Experience working effectively and cooperatively with diverse stakeholders;
  • Direct experience facilitating organizational change processes;
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Excellent drafting ability, in English and at fast pace
  • University degree within a relevant area.

It is desirable that you have:

  • Project management experience;
  • Previous work in a humanitarian and/or development organization;
  • Written and verbal communication skills in Spanish;
  • Written and verbal communication skills in Danish.

We offer

Contract length: 9 months (with possibility of extension)

Work place: DRC Headquarters, Copenhagen, Denmark

Start date: 1 March 2020

The position is temporary because it is a maternity replacement. There is a possibility of extension.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and the AC trade union. This is a national position for which local terms and conditions apply.
