Solid legal advice to all parts of our global business
As a member of the Group’s legal function, you will provide legal support to business colleagues in many different functions and geographies within a wide array of legal fields. Your advice may be based on general business-relevant as well as tobacco-specific regulation – and, of course, always on your sound legal and business acumen. You will be drafting and reviewing contracts for many different purposes in co-operation with the business and you will be involved in various cross-functional projects together with for instance sales, marketing, export, operations, finance or the management team, thus contributing to the success of the business. Together with other members of the legal team you will be involved in the ongoing task of ensuring compliance across the group. Key words describing the job are variety, trust and empowerment.
Our tasks include all such legal matters that arise in a large, international business, such as:
• Contracts with commercial and other partners as well as suppliers across the world
• Advising (and occasional training of) colleagues in regulatory areas like
o competition law
o tobacco specific regulations
o anti-corruption/anti-bribery regulation
o trade restrictions and sanctions
o selected employment law matters
o data protection (incl. compliance with GDPR)
o capital markets regulation (Scandinavian Tobacco Group is publicly listed)
o IP, in particular trademarks
• Development of internal policies and guidelines and management of programs to ensure legal and policy compliance (e.g. whistleblower schemes)
• International mergers and acquisitions
• Dispute handling
• Corporate law, e.g. in connection with structural changes
• Contact to and management of outside counsel
• Etc.
You will be working at our head office in Gentofte, Denmark. Some travel activity (up to 10-15 days annually) may occasionally be required.
At least 5-10 years of experience from a law firm and/or as in-house counsel
We are looking for a talented individual with a solid and preferably broad experience from a law firm and/or as in-house lawyer combined with very strong results from law school. You have worked for several years with international tasks and have excellent communication skills in written and spoken English. You must have experience within several of the legal fields listed above, and preferably you would bring in-depth knowledge and experience to become our expert within some of those fields. It would be an advantage if you are familiar with competition law, employment law, IT contracts or legal compliance work in general. As a person you are focused on always delivering high quality without sacrificing your ability to get the work done. You understand that your legal advice must fit in a commercial world, and you are curious to learn and understand how you best support the business. Your interpersonal skills are strong, and you truly work as a team player.
About the department
You will join the dedicated Legal, Public & Regulatory Affairs department in the Group’s head office in Gentofte, Denmark. We are expanding the legal team in the head office from 5 to 6 lawyers. The team is supported by administrative staff and by a legal team in the US. We are busy and continue to have exciting and important tasks ahead of us. The legal function is involved in the world-wide business of Scandinavian Tobacco Group which includes subsidiaries in approx. 20 countries and export sales to more than 100 countries.
