We are looking for a highly motivated and independent engineer to be responsible for the maintenance of our UHV systems.
Our research
The Centre of Quantum for Quantum Devices is in collaboration with Microsoft Quantum working on developing a topological quantum computer.
Your job
The primary work tasks are maintenance of our ultra-high vacuum (UHV) molecular beam epitaxy systems, assist with calibration of growth rates and help to share knowledge between our systems at HCØ (Copenhagen) and at Microsoft (Lyngby). Other major tasks are maintenance of gas supplies (including liquid nitrogen) and contact with vendors, assisting with maintenance of other lab-equipment, assist with maintenance, calibrations and measurements using optical and electron microscopes, develop and maintain equipment for surveillance (such as pressure gauges and temperature probes), help to improve the workflow in the lab to make it more user-friendly and help with making standard operation procedures and other safety related documents.

Place of employment
You will be employed at the Centre for Quantum devices, at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. The place of work will be both at Microsoft Quantum (Lyngby)and at the H.C. Ørsted Building(Copenhagen) .
Terms of salary and employment
Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
The employment as engineer is a full-time position. Starting date is 1 May 2020 or later on agreement with the employer.

Profile
Essential experience and skills
- You have an MSc in mechanical engineering, electronics engineering, physics or similar
- You have a profound knowledge of UHV systems (preferably MBE-systems)
- You are used to work in an academic lab
- You have experience with maintenance of pumps, gauges and gas supplies (including liquid nitrogen)
- Service-minded behavior, including experience training others.
- You have prior experience working in collaborative research projects
- You have programming experience (preferably Python) with focus on controlling lab-equipment
- You have experience with handling safety issues in the lab and writing standard operating procedures
- Good English skills, written and spoken
Desirable experience and skills
- Knowledge of semi-conductor devices and processing methods
- Experience with automated image analysis (e.g. OpenCV)
