We are seeking a talented and experienced M.Sc. to be part of Novo Nordisk A/S and participate in changing the quality of life for millions of people with diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular, NASH and other chronic diseases.
About the department
The departments Histological Sciences and Pathology & Imaging are two newly established departments in Global Drug Discovery, Novo Nordisk A/S located in Måløv. The departments work closely together in everyday life as One Centre of Excellence supporting the drug pipeline with state-of-the-art histology, toxicopathology and imaging technologies. We provide support to both early and late stage projects. We develop, characterise and use histological and imaging methods, and the work is carried out by technical staff and scientists as well as outsourced as contract research. Currently, the departments consists of 26 employees and 1 PhD student. The two departments were established in Autumn 2018 as a merger of employees from 5 different departments into one centre of excellence. It provides an excellent opportunity to optimise, automate and align our processes in the wet-lab work as well as image analysis work-flow.
The job
You will be responsible for optimizing and aligning the workflows in the department. Currently we have automated individual steps for the laboratory work and we aim to automate the information flow across the steps to avoid many manual data entry steps. This may include 1) securing an automatic dataflow when performing basic histology lab work i.e. automatic capture of data across LIMS system for animal studies, database for registry of tissue, information to printers for tissue section slides and naming of files for slide scanning; 2) implementing a new system for storage and naming scanned images in a searchable manner; 3) providing standard text/protocols to be used in electronic lab note book systems and 4) implementation of more automated equipment.
You will be working in close collaboration with end-users in capturing requirements, implementing solutions and securing change management as the processes are changed. For some initiatives you will be part of cross-departmental projects working in collaboration with e.g. IT-vendors/consultants and internal project managers.
We focus on identifying simple solutions that can be implemented fast.
The job is a 2-year position.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate holds an M.Sc. in natural sciences/engineering and has experience from working in a laboratory; experience from histological methods and image analysis is an advantage. Excellent IT skills and experience with optimization of processes incl. change management is required, e.g. from working with LEAN principles. You must be able to understand requirements from users of equipment and software and translate their needs into optimized processes, e.g. via barcodes, new software, automated equipment and optimized storage of very large amounts of data (images). Experience with project management is expected.
The departments are a part of Global Drug Discovery, which specialises in the discovery and development of biological medicines for the treatment of diabetes, obesity, haemophilia, chronic liver disease, CKD and cardiovascular diseases. We always strive for excellence and continuously develop our expertise to stay ahead - both as a company and as individuals. We believe that innovation and creativity thrive in a healthy and engaging working environment. Therefore, we give you the opportunity to bring your personal ambition and passion to work to improve the quality of life of the patients.
