Two Medical Doctors with interest in innovative drug development and experience with research and clinical trials

About the department

The department Medical & Science Functional Insulins & Digital Health is responsible for driving the medical and scientific agenda in the clinical development programmes for new and established insulin products, the advancement of insulin pump treatment solutions, prevention of diabetes and supporting the digital health initiatives in Novo Nordisk. We are currently 5 medical doctors, one assistant and a director with diverse medical backgrounds.

The job

We are looking to fill two positions due to expansion of our task. This is an opportunity for you to work with insulin drug development in the Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 diabetes. You will be deeply involved in developing one or more future diabetes treatments including new insulin treatment, understanding technology in diabetes treatment solutions, closed loop insulin pumps, and prevention of diabetes. We drive close collaborations with external partners within the field of insulin and innovative technology for diabetes. This includes both established companies and tech start-ups. You will be working both with the newest and well established insulin products with the aim of improving their use for the benefit of patients.

The department is progressing early phase projects through phase 1 and into phase 2, giving the opportunity to develop your skills within early development, as well as late stage development of established products. The activities we conduct are challenging from the technological and operational perspectives requiring a close collaboration with the trial operation team and external collaborators.

As a Medical Specialist you will take on the role as the medical expert within the assigned project. We expect you to take on the role as project driver taking the lead when necessary for project progression. Your job will focus on planning and executing trials in the Faster Insulin Aspart project and other insulin projects. The department is located with Global Development in Søborg, and our work is done in close collaboration with many other professionals, each contributing with their high level of expertise. You will be a driving factor in the cross-organisational implementation of clinical strategies with the help from more senior colleagues as needed. Your tasks will include supporting teams with medical expertise in relation to ongoing trials, planning and designing new clinical trials and medical contributions to key documents related to the project activities in collaboration with trial operations, biostatistics, marketing, regulatory affairs and other functions. Finally, you will represent the project from a medical and scientific perspective in internal and external fora in relation to the project responsibilities you will be given.

The organisation is dynamic and therefore your responsibilities will change in accordance with the needs of the organisation and to support your further professional development.

The job will require approximately 2-3 days of travel per month.

Qualifications

You have a medical degree and preferably training within diabetes/metabolic diseases and or clinical trials, including scientific training at a PhD degree level or similar. It is an advantage, if you have documented expertise within drug development and experience in strategic planning from previous basic or clinical research work. Optimally you have a proven ability to drive teams and collaboration with partners and you possess excellent stakeholder management capabilities.

The job requires proficiency in English with high communication, coordination, and planning capabilities, as well as flexibility.
