Project Communications Internship for MSF Denmark

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is seeking a communications intern to work on communication activities to promote the MSF Paediatric Days event. This contract is expected to last 3 to 5 months and will be based on an agreement with the candidate’s university. The successful candidate would ideally start working in September 2022.

The MSF Paediatric Days is an international event for paediatric project staff, policy makers and academia to exchange ideas, align efforts, inspire and share frontline research to advance urgent paediatric issues of direct concern for the humanitarian field.

The next edition of the MSF Paediatric Days will be virtual and will take place on 29-30 Nov and 1st Dec 2022.

Core responsibilities and tasks

• Event promotion (internal and external to MSF);
• Content production (newsletters, articles, interviews);
• Website management (drafting web news);
• Providing support with the implementation of the digital strategy;
• Management of social media accounts, live tweeting during the event;
• Liaising with external partners (INGOs & academia mostly);
• Press-package creation and dissemination;
• Support in event organisation;

This list of duties is not exhaustive and may be adjusted according to project needs and the successful candidates’ interests.

Qualifications, experience and knowledge

• A bachelor degree in communications or other relevant fields; and/or a proven professional experience in communication;
• Be native or fluent in English (excellent analytical and writing skills), knowledge of French is a plus;
• Excellent writing and editing skills;
• Excellent user of common IT tools (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word);
• Previous experience with social media is considered an asset;
• Previous experience with event promotion is considered an asset.

• Excellent communicator;
• Ability to work independently on a number of different tasks, simultaneously;
• Flexibility to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization, comfortable in liaising with external stakeholders;
• Strong commitment to humanitarian principles and values.

Terms

• This is a temporary contract for unpaid internship – university agreement required. MSF will provide advice and support for the intern and regards the internship as a learning experience.
