In this role, you will work directly with our Head of Communications of Svitzer Europe and get exposure to a wide variety of tasks and disciplines within internal and external corporate communication. The position offers valuable hands-on experience and a unique opportunity to develop your communication skills, while deepening your understanding of the value and role, communication plays in a global corporate setting.

You will join a dynamic and highly international maritime company operating in 30+ countries. As one of five brands within the Maersk Group, Svitzer is a global leader in sustainable marine services, providing critical towage infrastructure and maritime solutions to customers within a range of different industries, as well as port authorities across the world.

The position is based at Svitzer’s European headquarter in Copenhagen, where you will be part of our European headquarter team and become member of a small team tasked with shaping communication in Svitzer Europe.

As our new communication student assistant, you will apply your knowledge and skills to solve a wide range of communication assignments and projects, often in collaboration with stakeholders across the organisation. We expect you to embrace the chance to work independently and take responsibility of your own projects and assignments. Working hours are flexible, especially around examination periods, and run between fifteen to twenty hours per week. Some work-related travel may occur.

Besides spurring your professional development within Svitzer, you will become part of Students@Maersk, an internal network community that hosts social events and learning activities for student assistants across the Maersk Group.

Key responsibilities

You will be working closely with colleagues in Copenhagen and across the European region to deliver on the following key responsibilities:

  • Assist in driving communications that engages both onshore and offshore colleagues around our strategic priorities
  • Craft and produce engaging content for various channels such as images, videos, graphics and text
  • Assist with ad hoc communication assignments and provide internal communication support to functional leaders
  • Support development and execution of physical and virtual events
  • Update and maintain sites and internal communication platforms

Qualifications

We are looking for a creative, curious, and energetic person, who takes pride in delivering quality work and enjoys taking ownership and responsibility of own tasks. You have good interpersonal skills, a keen eye for details and some business acumen. You are open to challenges and enjoy collaborating with others.

You demonstrate excellent to native levels of proficiency in written English and ideally, you are a few years into your studies. Your specific line of education is of less importance to us. What matters is that you possess a skill set to successfully fill the role and are motivated to create a lot of great compelling communication with and for your colleagues. You therefore possess most of the following skills and competences:

  • Strong video production and editing skills
  • Good copy writing skills for creating compelling and concise content such as social media posts, online articles or website updates
  • Ability to think outside the box and generate innovative ideas for video and other types of visual content
  • Confidence and flair for turning even technical and complex input from subject matter experts into clear, appealing communication
  • Proficiency in using digital and social media platforms such as but not limited to LinkedIn, Viva Engage and Instagram with an awareness of the unique features and best practices for each platform.
  • Graphic design skills for creating visual content

Our corporate language is English, so ability to speak Danish is not a requirement to fill the position. However, a student work permit is required if you are not an EU citizen.
