The Department of Sociology, Environmental and Business Economics has a vacant position as external lecturer for the course of Sports Management in Esbjerg by March 1st.
Your task is: independently to plan and carry out teaching in the course Sports Management at the bachelor programme of Business Economics, HA Sports and Event Management.
The course focuses on imparting knowledge about basic theories how to manage the multiple dimensions of the sports business.
Additionally, the course pays special attention to giving the student knowledge about the interaction of the various actors in the sports area as well as about special aspects of non-profit organizations.
There is a focus on enhancing skills in assessing theoretical and practical problems regarding the management in for-profit and not-for-profit sport organizations, and in substantiating and selecting possible solutions to such problems on the basis of business economic and business administration theories.
The course will be qualifying students to handle basic case studies with appropriate theoretical means.
The course contains the following academic main areas:
- the Danish and International sports sector
- the commercialization and ethics of sport
- the role of the state in the sports industry
- non-profit vs. professional sport
- strategic management in sport and organizational structure
- human resource management in sport, including management of volunteers and change management
The position might hold supervision and guidance on internships or theses.
Teaching will be 15 weeks of 2 hours in the spring, you can find further information on the course here.
We expect the applicant to have the following:
- A relevant masters degree preferably within Business Economics
- knowledge within the field of Sport Management
- ability to teach both in Danish and English
- preferably teaching experience
- can carry out teaching during the day.

The period of employment for a part-time lecturer is usually 3 years. In special cases this period may however differ. Contact the department for more information on this.
Part-time lecturers are remunerated in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).
A release certificate will be issued.
Applicants must enclose a Master’s degree certificate and a CV that includes information on previous teaching experience and relevant academic qualifications.
Employment presupposes positive, expert assessment of the applicant’s qualifications.
