Let’s talk about the role

An attractive opportunity has become available as Product Owner of Operational Excellence (OE) in Global IT Support. In this role, you will convert ideas into practical actions supporting the users on the journey toward operational stability. This is by driving epics according to business processes, refining features, and helping the team clarify stories, defects, and enablers.

The product you will own is actively handling critical incidents, problems, and changes and maturing the processes to ensure operational stability. You will be working with the product delivery team consisting of 12 highly skilled major incident-, problem-, and change managers, all working within an ongoing mix of operations and development.

You will support continuous improvement by interacting with and coaching employees on proven methods to optimize operational efficiency and a strong focus on enhancing the customer experience. You will lead process improvement initiatives with the delivery team by identifying, analysing, implementing, and monitoring improvements. Another responsibility is collaborating with leadership and the agile delivery teams to ensure OE initiatives deliver the intended value.

Your main stakeholders, besides your area, will be the rest of the management team in Service Desk and IT support, the management team, and senior stakeholders in the various business areas and regions of Novo Nordisk. The job is global, and some travel activity will be needed.

Responsibilities in short

As OE Product Owner, you will focus on a broad range of activities to ensure that the team's solution(s) meet the business expectations. Common day-to-day tasks come here:

  • Building, prioritizing, and maintaining team backlog.
  • Preparing your team for PI (Program Implements) planning activities, driving the PI planning and support in other agile events like demos
  • Working closely with Business owners and other product owners to define the product strategy/roadmap, as well as with the team's architect to define the solution and deliverables
  • Take part in System Releases in an Agile Setup, ensuring new functionality is in line with LoB requirements, including updating relevant documentation such as requirements and user guides.
  • Reporting status and addressing the actions points from Business owners
  • Budgeting responsibility for the Epics and features.

What we are looking for

You might hold an MSc, MBA, or similar graduate degree in business administration, engineering, computer science, or other relevant fields. On top of that, you have +10 years of experience and can tick off most of the following:

  • Experience in IT Infrastructure Operations, IT Strategies, or IT Service Management in global organisations.
  • Experience within the pharma industry will be a plus, preferably +5 years.
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills and a positive and engaging personality with the ability to converse at all levels in a global organisation.
  • You must have experience managing key senior management stakeholders through effective communication, regular reporting, and a high degree of personal integrity.
  • You possess strong coaching and communication capabilities and can support a culture of change with a capacity to challenge as-is.
  • You can develop strategies and drive innovation and continuous process improvements within a unit.
  • Having experience with participating in agile transformations will be a plus.
  • Finally, you must possess excellent communication skills in English (written/spoken).

Global IT Support is a newly established unit in Global IT Operations (GITO) consisting of multiple teams of highly skilled and dedicated employees located around the world. The Global IT Support Product Area covers core services such as Service Desk, On-site support, and Major Incident Management. The unit is represented in our sales affiliates and Global Service Centers acting as the single point of contact in the local sites. This is while participating actively in Product Teams in our other Product areas, such as Digital Workplace and Infrastructure.

GITO has 400+ employees across over 25 countries, with main hubs in Denmark, USA, and India. Global IT Operations helps drive the digital transformation of Novo Nordisk.
