Where do you come in?
Products & Technology develop new pioneering evacuation systems and products and constantly work to improve existing products so that passengers and crews around the world can feel safe and rescued in the event of an emergency. You become part of a well-functioning team consisting of competent engineers, specialists and project managers. Common to all is that they are motivated by VIKING's mission to save lives, and want to make a difference.
If you think about a career as a project manager and have a great interest in engineering, this job as a student assistant can be an important step. You will have great responsibility and depending on your background as well as field of interest, you will be involved in small and large projects in collaboration with some of our very best engineers and developers; your role will be both to assist with and develop your own constructions and modifications, as well as to take the project coordination and project management of selected projects or sub-projects.
The working time is approx. 2 full days a week with the possibility of several hours during e.g. holiday periods as well as flexibility around exam periods. Together with your manager, you can arrange your working time to match your schedule. Most of our student assistants write their thesis or graduation project for VIKING, and some choose to take their semester internship in the department.
SO are you studying within a relevant engineering programme and do you have at least a year and a half left of your education - you may be the one we are looking for.
Primary tasks
- Participate in cross organizational product development teams as well as being responsible for smaller projects
- Digitalize and optimize service manuals
- Carry out a wide range of administrative tasks with an eye to optimizing existing processes
- Digitalize and maintain our project plan
- Ad-hoc tasks for the team
Your profile
- Structured and ambitious
- You have a natural interest in digitalizing and optimizing processes
- You have a strong focus on getting your tasks done within deadlines
- You know your strengths and weaknesses and are’nt afraid to ask for help
- In your study group you are the organizer and ensure that you move from A to Z
- Team player with a focus on the team's goals, rather than fulfilling your own interests
- Have a hands-on approach and are’nt afraid to address any task
- It will be an advantage if you have a mechanical or technical background or experience
You’ll be thoroughly introduced to our products and processes, and once you’re on board, our clear goal is that you will develop both professionally and personally at VIKING. In collaboration with your manager, you will develop a targeted development plan, where we organize your further career through sparring and internal training programs.
The goal from our side is clear: After your studies, you must be able to fill a significant role in VIKING and be employed in a responsible position as project manager.
