The Center for Genomic Medicine at Rigshospitalet is looking for a laboratory information management system (LIMS) engineer to join our department as part of the 10-man strong bioinformatics team that develops and maintains computational pipelines for the analysis of patient genomes and transcriptomes.
The Center for Genomic Medicine holds a combined high-throughput DNA/RNA sequencing and bioinformatics platform that offers a wide-range of genomic and transcriptomic analyses, including human whole-genome sequencing, to hospitals in Region Hovedstaden and Region Sjælland as well as the National genome sequencing initiative. The Center is located at Rigshospitalet, Blegdamsvej 9 in Copenhagen as well as our sequencing facility at Kennedy Center in Glostrup.
The position is a temporary 18-month position, where you will support the development of our LIMS. The system registers, interacts with laboratory equipment and tracks information on patient samples, from the moment they arrive in the lab, until registration of results and generation of reports. The department has invested in a new LIMS solution which needs programmatically setup and integration with our current systems as well as the systems of the Danish National Genome Center. The work will mainly take place at the sequencing facility and should support the daily work of 20 laboratory technicians and a similar number of data analysts and bioinformaticians.
We offer a stimulating environment where laboratory technicians, medical doctors, biologists and bioinformaticians work together to deliver high-quality precision medicine and research. Our work has direct implications for diagnosis of patients leading to better treatment for a variety of rare and more common genetic diseases, infections, and cancer.
Qualifications:
Our work is primarily focused on processing and analyzing DNA sequencing data. The results of these analyses must be validated and curated by our team of specialists before handling the results to the medical doctors. Registering, instrument programming and interface and tracking the samples through this process is essential.

Qualifications:
- A degree in health technology or general engineering degree with programming experience, or computer science, software engineering, or similar. Individuals without any such a degree, but with proven experience will also be considered.
- General programming experience is required, experience in python is a plus
- Experience with LEAN or other production or manufacturing processes is a plus
- Experience with system integration is a plus
- Practical experience in working in a laboratory is a plus
- Proficient with Linux-based operating systems and containerization (docker);
- You like to work in a team, and you are motivated by working in an interdisciplinary environment.
