Maersk is going through times of unprecedented change. We are rethinking the way we engage with both customers and partners, and have a bold ambition to decarbonizing logistics.
Maersk Decarbonization team aims to drive Maersk’s emissions to zero as fast as practically and commercially possible. Digital technologies – and StarConnect specifically – are a key enabler in this journey.
We are looking for an expert to drive digital solutions that empower vessel crews and fleet management with advice and information to plan and execute safer, timelier, and more energy efficient voyages. Come join us making decarbonization agenda come to life!
This position offers a unique opportunity to join a cross-functional team developing voyage planning and execution tools.
You will be a part of a multicultural and collaborative team in our Copenhagen office working with agile software development methods.
We operate in a fast-paced environment utilizing modern technologies and bias toward action. We value customer outcomes and are passionate about using technology to solve problems.
We engage with key stakeholders and users, influencing the outcomes in the sphere of energy and CO2 emissions optimization.
At Maersk we value the diversity of our talent and will always strive to recruit the best person for the job – we value diversity in all its forms, including but not limited to: gender, age, nationality, race, sexual orientation, disability or religious beliefs.
We are proud of our diversity and see it as a genuine source of strength for building high performing teams.
As the Subject Matter Expert you will be responsible for understanding business requirements, success metrics & user pain points, as well as collaborating with the cross-functional product team to define the solutions, solve business problems and build amazing user experiences.
You will operate in a scrum team with a dedicated product owner, independently directing your time and resources together with the software engineers in the team.
Your responsibilities will cover researching business problems and objectives, user experiences & needs, translating them into user stories, and ensuring requirements are sufficiently detailed so as to enable the team to deliver operationally feasible and high-quality solutions.
Your key focus will be to safeguard that our solutions create value, both in terms of driving voyage energy efficiency, and providing benefits to users – both on vessels and in the office.
You will support the team with testing to ensure the acceptance of the solutions, as well as assist with developing communication and training material. You will provide 3rd level user support in domain related matters. You will be a “go-to” person for other teams and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate has the following:
• In-depth understanding of marine navigation and route planning
• Minimum 2 years sailing experience as a Second Officer, preferably, on a container vessel
• Understanding of and, preferably, some experience in voyage performance management
• Interest in developing software and willingness to work under Agile product development framework
• Passion for solving problems and thinking out of the box
• Good teamwork skills, balanced with the autonomy, proactiveness and motivation to produce individually
• Great communication and interpersonal skills, displaying the ability to “place” software developers into the vessel operations context
• Strong drive to get things done, specifically to multi-task and meet deadlines consistently
• Ability to stay motivated in a fast-moving environment with a degree of ambiguity
