Hi there!
I’m Marie and besides being the Head of Marine People Strategy in Marine HR, I also have a strong passion for driving our Talent and Development agenda. This is so important to me and to Marine HR, that we have created a new team focusing specifically on this topic – if this sounds interesting, please read on.
The chance to meaningfully influence our seafarers’ careers.
Talent and Development is an area that has been close to our heart for years, but there is still plenty of scope and unrealized potential. We have been able to achieve great engagement with training and development over the years. However, truly identifying who our talents are and ensuring we create diversification in career paths are just the start of this journey we are embarking on.
We have so much untapped potential in our pool of 12000 seafarers. Right now, we have this incredible opportunity to unfold this huge talent pool whether we are talking about opportunities onboard or ashore.
You will be part of the team that brings this to life.
We already have plenty of ideas about what you could do such as:
- It all starts with how we define our talents, yes you will be a key part of this fundamental step
- Creating the tools to identify our talents that can be implemented across the globe
- Creating a portfolio of development routes, not only for our talents, also for shore opportunities as an interim or permanent move, or expanding expertise across the fleet
- Defining how you as a pillar of our Talent and Development team can build engagement with our seafarers through the strategy that is developed
- Building the network across the globe creating a flow in career opportunities
- Organize learning in close collaboration with our training team
To own the approach of how you will achieve this. It will be up to you, as part of the Talent and Development team, to help define what Talent and Development means in Marine HR, exciting right? 😊
If I were to give ideas, I would envision an inclusive approach where you use sounding boards consisting of our seafarers and internal Training and Development experts and that you co-develop the initiatives in close collaboration with our Marine People Advisor teams, as they will own the daily execution of these initiatives.
We will decide on priorities together, but it will be on you to drive the daily implementation, execution and ensuring we adapt to what is working.
You will of course be collaborating with many stakeholders and so it will be beneficial if you have prior experience with leading larger projects and managing multiple workstreams.
Furthermore, we will not be doing it alone and you should expect to also be engaging with various parts of the organisation across the globe.
This will be super exciting; as they are just as eager as you to work with our talents and strengthen the development opportunities for our seafarers.
You have:
• Experience of identifying talent and developing careers preferably in a large, globally distributed organisation.
• Experience with talent reviews and development of talent and training needs.
• A clear understanding of how to create and visualise non-linear career development plans that are diverse and practical for the individual.
• A specialised, adaptable toolkit of relevant skills and training to do the above.
• Plenty of your own original ideas for how this area can be developed.
In addition, your passion for this work will likely be a key differentiator I would hope you very clearly express in your application. You can effectively communicate your approach to the task ahead, and you are able to combine it with established digital and project management skills.
I would also hope some of the below words apply to you:
- Courageous; as you need to have the courage to stand up and show the world how we will change our talent and development for our seafarers
- Conscientious; as you need to see everything you do through
- Caring; in everything we do, we care for our seafarers
I hope I’ve sparked your interest and if so, please send me your application. Make sure that your CV express all the skills you have and then focus your cover letter on your passion.
Kind regards
Marie
