Our User Experience team consists of 12+ passionate UX professionals who are committed to improving customer satisfaction, loyalty, and advocacy through the delivery of meaningful user experiences with a focus on inclusivity. The team is expanding, and we are looking for a Senior Design Manager who will enable the team to scale into an efficient, high performance global organization.
The Senior Design Manager helps foster an environment in which the team can do its best work. You will develop people, drive operational excellence, recruit new talent and guide teams with empathy, purpose and with a passion for seeing exceptional design work shipped to our customers and end-users.
This role is expected to have between 3-5 direct reports and report directly to the Director of Product Design.
What you'll be doing
People
- Lead by example through taking ownership, being proactive, and collaborating.
- Nurture, grow, and develop design talent in the team.
- Exemplify Siteimprove's values and the values of the design team.
- Collaborate with HR to drive the recruitment process.
Design Operations
- Build processes, define best practices, and provide frameworks that support autonomous design and delivery of customer value.
- Connect the dots between teams and facilitate collaborative design processes.
- Lead the team through undefined problem spaces and toward solutions that meet customer needs and contribute to top line business value.
- Communicate design rationale, and use storytelling techniques to obtain partner and stakeholder buy-in.
- Champion adherence and consistency to established design and UX copy standards and guidelines.
- Use your understanding of impact and success metrics to focus and prioritize the team's efforts.
- Through leadership, shape ways of working that elevate the team’s ability to consistently deliver high quality work.
Strategy
- Collaborate with product and design leadership to define the user experience strategy.
- Act as a consistent advocate for end-user needs and perspectives in product strategy discussions.
What we require of you
- At least 2 years in a design management role where you successfully managed at least 3-5 people.
- At least 5 years individual contributor design experience. Preferably in the SaaS, B2B, MarTech space.
- Delivered successful work at the scope of whole product areas.
- Demonstrated experience managing UX related disciplines or managing multidisciplinary individuals and teams.
- Extensive knowledge of design processes.
- Excellent stakeholder management experience.
- Excellent communication skills - both written and oral
