Oceans and Logistics is one of our largest business segments and as we continue to grow, we have created the role of Global Head for Construction and Engineering for Contract Logistics. As an integral part of this business segment, our warehouses are a supply chain pit-stop, expertly designed to keep products flowing through the supply chain. Efficient and highly compliant, we currently have warehouses in over 50 countries. But, with growth comes plans to expand our warehousing footprint further.Role: Sr Director – Construction and Engineering

Location: Denmark / Netherlands / Germany

The Global Head for Construction and Engineering for Contract Logistics will be responsible for all Maersk asset investment planning, project execution of own warehouse construction, leased and refurbished projects as well as the start-up / launch for new operations.

They will be the custodian of the templates/standards of the warehouses, (selected) equipment and related civil works as well as the custodian of standards (including buy and lease assets). Owning and governing all asset-related investments (including lease projects), the Global Head will also lead the global Implementation & Start Up team which serve as the project managers for:

  • Construction

  • Lease and refurbishment projects and coordination

  • Leading from Stage 2 to 6 (Pre-construction, Procurement, Construction, Engineering, Commissioning before handing over to the local operations)



The Global Head is also responsible for the Construction Framework/Playbook and will have visibility into global projects in partnership with the local project owners.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of Projects impacting productivities, costs.

  • Supporting teams with performance management tools.

  • Map ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ processes and drive the journey.

  • Effective anchoring of solutions, tools, and changing mindset of employees and management. Ensure as big a continuous improvement impact as possible is delivered.

  • Provide consultation around process changes affecting specific areas outside warehousing, e.g., transportation, customer service.

  • Support engineering, pricing, and implementation teams regarding ideas and realisation of their own projects.

  • Responsible for Global initiatives (construction, lease and refurbishment projects and coordination for example) and will have visibility into global projects in partnership with the local project owners.

  • Successfully delivering projects on time, in budget and with target quality of new facilities.

  • Operational readiness of new facilities within given timelines and with the right quality of contractual agreement with customers.

  • Relationship management with external stakeholders such as Customers, Landlords, Authorities, Real Estate and Developers.

  • Relationship management with internal stakeholders such as CEN Network Design & Capacity Planning, Regional & Area Leadership, Solution Designers, Implementation Managers, SWAT Finance, Operations Excellence, Implementation & Start Up, Automation / Engineering, Legal, HR and Procurement.


What you bring

  • Proven track record with warehouse constructions and engineering projects (as leader).

  • Proven track record working with local authorities and landlords.

  • Highly structured work style with proven track record of meeting project delivery deadlines and budgets.

  • Understanding Operational Excellence and Lean experience in warehousing is essential.

  • Proven track record of process improvement & Project Management.

  • Strong influencing skills.

  • Results-driven combined with the ability to achieve results through people.

  • Analytical thinker, dealing with sufficient details without losing the big picture.

  • Ability to juggle multiple timelines and overcome barriers to achieve what is needed.

  • Data-driven mindset and analytical skills.

  • Strong stakeholder management, especially with Senior Executives, Technology and Platform functions etc.

  • Strong experience in building and leading an international team.

  • Ability to motivate and inspire self and others through ambiguity and change.

  • Comfortable with international travel of approx. 25-30% p.a.
