The Freight Forwarding Lead is a new instrumental role within the DFDS Direct team, which will build DFDS Direct’s freight forwarding business while guiding technology development to support this business.

This job is a unique opportunity to help build a new digital business within Logistics with exposure to the Executive Management Team.
As Freight Forwarding Lead you will develop knowledge of digital freight forwarding, which is shaping the future of the Transport and Logistics industry. At the same time, you will ensure an agile way of working in a start-up-like environment. In this process you will enhance your commercial and operational freight forwarding skills with a digital mindset and develop your entrepreneurial skillset while building a new business.
The team is a diverse team represented by Marketing, Tech and Logistics that works closely with the Logistics VP of BU Nordics. It provides updates to the Venture Board every 6 weeks, which includes the CEO, CTO and EVP of Logistics. You will be collaborating with your manager and peers in an open communication form and in the acknowledgement that everybody brings their own personality, experience and skills to the table with a passion for building DFDS Direct.
Main responsibilities
The Freight Forwarding Lead will build a digital freight forwarding business within DFDS Direct. She/He will both build demand from shippers and supply from carriers and leverage digital tools and partnerships to do so. She/He will be a key driver of identifying and building the right technology to support their business, e.g. carrier management system and load matching. In additions to this, the Freight Forwarding Lead will:
Your profile
We imagine you have at least 5 years of experience in freight forwarding as well as a digital and entrepreneurial mindset. It is also preferred that you have data analysis experience which would be a highly valuable addition to your skillset.
We’re looking for an outgoing person with the ability to influence challenging stakeholders and build partnerships, and an out-of-the box thinker that delivers high quality output on time. Travel may be required as the freight forwarding business scales in various geographies. The position can be located in any DFDS office.

- Run freight forwarding operations, incl. sales, customer service, planning and administrative tasks
- Set up and report KPIs such as the DFDS Direct freight forwarding P&L
- Scale the freight forwarding team with additional resources as required and if successful at scaling the business
Your profile
