Be part of the Technology and Innovation leadership team driving the digital transformation in DFDS

As our new Tribe Lead in DFDS you will be part of the Technology & Innovation leadership team and are considered a senior leader within DFDS, playing an important role in driving value and manage dependencies across the Short Routes & Passenger business unit in DFDS.
You will act as a visionary challenger, who fully understands the business drivers, reality and complexity within the division.

You will be responsible for the Passenger Tribe which main purpose is to help create a great passenger experience across our European wide network of passenger vessels covering over 9 routes in UK, France, Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Lithuania, and Estonia.

The Tribe is dealing with processes and software that cover the booking experience and touchpoints from a passenger’s arrival at terminal to them boarding the ship and getting into their cabin, as well as issuing any entitlements and purchases onboard.

This role is connected to considerable responsibility for driving a diverse group of employees, each representing their own part – hence covering a broad spectrum of skillsets. It is your opportunity to move closer to the decision-making process of our business with a significant impact on the execution of projects – focusing on improving and innovating digital core processes and the customer experience within Passenger. You will have an important role in driving DFDS’s digital strategy.

Collaboration is key to make your tribe perform
As Tribe Lead, you will be responsible for setting the vision for Tribe activities, defining the strategic direction to make it easy for our customers booking- and buying-flows. To succeed, you will collaborate closely with colleagues across the value chain, to harmonize the customer journey end-to-end. You are responsible for the Tribe’s key performance indicators across business and technological metrics (e.g. uptime) as well as managing to budget. With direct report to the CTO, you will be part of the Technology & Innovation leadership team, and work in close collaboration to the VP of Short Routes & Passenger.

Specified tasks
To achieve the above, it is expected, that you:

  • Set and achieve ambitious goals through your teams
  • Design and maintain roadmap for Tribe products
  • Translate vision to short term plans (e.g. Quarterly planning)
  • Ensure product vision is shared by all Product Owners
  • Create an atmosphere of confidence and trust in the Tribe and motivate Tribe members to reach the goals – both on individual and Tribe level.
  • Manage Tribe budget and make proposals for ongoing Tribe composition and headcount

Preferred candidate profile
We are looking for a passionate leader who can rally others behind a joint vision, support a great culture and build greatness in your team.

It is definitely an advantage if you:

  • Have experience with passenger customer experience and the operational part of running our passenger business.
  • Have experience with ecommerce and online booking flows. Understands how to create digital customer interaction and engagement to increase customer satisfaction and revenue.
  • Use technology to solve business and customer needs
  • Have experience with agile principles and how to use them to create great software.
  • Have succeed through effective collaboration, using a high sense of self-awareness and integrity when building trust and relations.
  • Create engagement and empower your team and stakeholders, while focusing on striking the balance of autonomy and alignment.
  • Handle difficult conversations and embrace conflict, e.g. to create learning and efficient teamwork


For you, it is natural to take ownership of business outcomes and set the direction to enable your team to deliver on the strategic objectives of DFDS. You are able to collect and prioritize customer preferences in an effective way taking into account both strategic objectives, tech aspects and requirements – and then you possess a willingness to take calculated risks to improve the speed of development.

The position is located at our brand new HQ in Copenhagen and you would be expected to be located here.
