HR Director, Headquarter, Denmark and Poland

The DFDS context
DFDS is 156 years old company and has during its lifetime demonstrated growth and continuous ability to adapt and develop to new circumstances. DFDS is expected to deliver close to 5 bn DKK in EBITDA in 2022, DFDS is 40% owned by the Lauritzen Foundation, with the remaining 60% listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. Currently counting 13.000 employees, with ferry, logistics and passenger operations across Europe and Turkey.
DFDS is developing rapidly across Europe including Turkey. DFDS has an ambitious climate action plan, to reduce CO2 emissions – and is also determined to become an even more inclusive place to work regardless of background and orientation of employees. As a growing company with focus on M&A’s and a common DFDS culture, the need for alignment and scalability is also a key priority.
All the above requires great leadership, which is why DFDS spend significant investments and efforts to continuously develop our leaders, to continue to be a great place to work.
Your role
Bepart of the movement and play your part setting direction and execute priorities, as part of the People Leadership Team (PLT)
We are looking for a new colleague to take the role as HR Director for Headquarter, Denmark and Poland. You will be based in in our newly established headquarter in Copenhagen and be part of a great leadership team with 11 colleagues. You will report to the Chief People Officer of DFDS, a member of the Executive Management Team (EMT) and reports to the CEO of DFDS.
Within the PLT, there are representatives from the DFDS regions: UK & Ireland, Scandinavia & Baltics, Continent and Mediterranean, as well as HR Centers of Excellence, Crewing, Health & Safety (landbased), CSR and Group Communication – all included in the People & Communications Division area. You will work closely with the colleagues in the team, all contributing to create a common interface with colleagues outside the People & Communications Division.
You will be responsible for HR Business partnering and HR Operations across Denmark and Poland, For Denmark, this includes a mix of business operations and headquarter functions. You will have a team of 20 people based across locations in Jutland, Copenhagen (DK), Szubin and Poznan (PL). Travel days of 50-60 days/year (inside and outside DK) may be expected.
In addition to the above, you will be HR Business Partner for the Chief Financial Officer and the Chief Technology & Innovation officer, both members of the EMT and based in the HQ. This involves sparring and support in strategic initiatives, the People Annual Cycle (esp. Talent reviews and Talent Development) and other ad-hoc initiatives.
As part of the People Leadership Team, you will drive the strategic priorities of the People Division within your area of responsibility - all directly linked to DFDS’ overall strategy. These priorities are:

- 8+ years’ experience as a seasoned HR Business Partner, supporting an international leadership team
- Experienced in the supervision of a team
- Ability to closely interact with stakeholders (leaders at all levels from Finance, IT and Logistics)
- High degree of capability to take own decisions
- Analytical mindset, strong prioritisation and execution skills
- Besides having an academic degree (Master level or similar), we expect you to have previously worked in a commercial, international enterprise with responsibility across several countries.
In addition, we expect you to have:
- Rounded experience across processes in the employee life cycle and across the ‘HR Annual Wheel’ (e.g. people performance management, talent reviews, leadership development, salary review)
- Strong business acumen, making it natural for you always to understand the business context you are operating in as a guiding direction for what to prioritise
- Strong analytical skills, combined with communication skills which can translate complex content to simple messages
- Stakeholder management and influencing skills, combined with a team player attitude
- Strong leadership and coaching skills, with a balanced approach between driving progress/delivery and demonstrating empathy
- High resilience to work under pressure and with tough deadlines.
- Strong process understanding and analytical skills to drive simplification and standardisation, with digitisation
- Fluency in verbal and written English, the working language is English.
