As our new Senior Project and IFI Market Director in the International Water and Climate Resilience department in Ramboll's water division, you will be part of the department's management team on an equal footing with the other members of the department management team. You will serve as the day-to-day director of project activities for select client segments and programs particularly in the IFI water market and take on the lead responsibilities for climate adaptation and resilience related projects. You will work together with the local water team-leadership and senior experts and project managers in the business units for Water, Environment & Health, Architecture and Landscape, Transport and Buildings.

Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Project Director and at times Project Manager of large climate adaptation, integrated infrastructure, and master planning projects with many stakeholders and high technological, contractual, political, and cultural complexity

  • Facilitation of all phases of projects with a focus on quality, meeting deadlines, and budgets.
  • Active participation in developing and running interdisciplinary and / or inter-organizational projects
  • Collaboration and sparring with other project directors, project managers and colleagues across Ramboll
  • Development and support of the competence development of project managers and project employees by creating synergy between performance in the project and development of the team's professional / personal strengths
  • Responsibility for training and knowledge sharing on the projects as well as translating learnings into improvements in future projects
  • Contribute to the development of "best practices" within project management
  • Communication with the customer's organization at several levels and encourage and facilitate ongoing dialogue between the participants in the project (clients, partners, authorities and the project group's employees)
  • Active participation in sales and market-related activities, including screening opportunities, partnering strategies, quotation and active sales as well as maintaining and developing personal customer and partnership relationships
  • At times expected to be a Team Leader, Key Expert or Non-Key expert on water related Projects

  • Strategic Selling - Understands Ramboll's strategy, vision and distinctiveness and effectively selects, drives and leads strategic sales to high profile clients in support of Ramboll's strategic direction. Keeps pipeline growing and is effective in selling new projects. Has extensive knowledge of the strategic direction of Ramboll and drives strategic selling into current and new areas and where clients value what Ramboll offers. Drives selling approach and the tender process in accordance with Ramboll code of conduct and in compliance with Project Excellence Life Cycle.
  • Strategic Business Planning - Creates the capacity for business value and developing business plans for the department. Being knowledgeable in aspects that may affect Ramboll as a business as well as in understanding the competitive landscape. Maximizes the identification of profitable business opportunities and is able to translate into an actionable business plan. Understands how to prioritize efforts in the market, in client relations and in own organization. Cooperates with Market Developers on creating Go to Market Plans.
  • Leadership – Together with the leadership team establishing a compelling vision based on lead expertise in subject matter which others are motivated and inspired to follow is a key responsibility. Addresses risks, problems or challenging situations and deals with those professionally and promptly. Proactive and committed participation in the department's management tasks together with other appointees and department heads. Training other colleagues in project management and assisting the department's project managers in project management, understanding of project finances and project quality assurance. Contribute to the management of the department from a project perspective, for example by ensuring ongoing alignment of expectations as well as provide feedback and coaching. Together with department management team decide on what to innovate and where develop new services and business for the department.
  • Entrepreneurship - Generating business value by innovatively influencing the markets in which Ramboll operates and in positioning Ramboll, its portfolio and its capabilities positively within them. Maximizes and prioritizes the identification of profitable market-based opportunities and efforts required to deliver them. Fully considers geographic, industry, client and domain specific actions required to deliver the Go to Market Plan. Develops entrepreneurial approaches in exerting influence over the client's buying and decision-making preferences. Understands international market conditions including relevant regulations, country and contract laws.

Key competencies for the role of senior project and IFI market director are:

  • In-Depth knowledge and extensive experience in the IFI water market (clients, competitors, project pipelines, etc)

  • Management and control of stages of the projects
  • Broad understanding of the challenges within climate adaptation, integrated infrastructure, water and wastewater treatment and networks and master planning
  • Solid business understanding and excellent at managing finances and creating good earnings on projects
  • Good at handling pressure and uncertainty on projects and able to handle conflicts internally and externally in a constructive way, both personally and contractually
  • Insight into your own strengths and limitations regarding management behavior and ability to exercise situational leadership
  • Solid sales competencies both in relation to existing customers and outreach to new customers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Danish an advantage, but not a requirement)

To succeed in the job as a senior project and IFI water market director, it is important that you are committed and outgoing with a natural interest in understanding our customers' issues and needs. You participate actively in the process of finding the right local solutions based on inputs from several disciplines and stakeholders, and you take pride in delivering a high professional level, that things are in order and ensuring good project finances. You are an excellent communicator both in writing and orally and like to be the one who shares your knowledge between clients and project teams. You are a team player who is curious about the competencies of others to find the right team of colleagues and partners for the benefit of our clients. Specifically, this means that you:

  • Develop and comply with project plans, quality requirements and budgets for the individual projects
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction (CSS)
  • Ensure high employee satisfaction on the projects (measured by the annual employee satisfaction survey ESES)
  • Is responsible at either PD or PM level for a project portfolio or individual projects of up to approx. USD $10 million.
  • Contributes to new sales and additional sales for USD $3-5 million / year.
  • Is visible both when it comes to profiling projects and branding Ramboll
  • Has a solid network with external partners and builds a good internal network.

This position is preferred within our Ramboll Head Office located in Copenhagen.
