3Shape is the leading global 3D scanner system provider of state-of-the art digital products for the dental industry. We are currently looking for a systems engineer to strengthen the systemic coherence of our portfolio of projects. This includes projects from the handheld scanning hardware to application software. Together with the Systems and Architecture Manager and in collaboration with the individual projects, you will take our system level requirement handling, system configurability, and system description and documentation to the next level.
You will report to the Systems and Architecture Manager.
Your Role
As our new Systems Engineer you will work closely together with Product Management, R&D teams, quality stakeholders, and regulatory stakeholders on our Intra-oral scanner systems.
The main tasks involve
System level requirement handling:
- Lead requirement formulation and traceability on system level
- Understand user needs and formulate technical requirements from these
- Understand requirements from standards and formulate technical requirements from these in interaction with the R&D developers
System description and documentation:
- Functional architecture documentation
- Component/module definitions
- Participate in system partitioning (HW – Firmware - Embedded SW - SW)
System configurability:
- Manage configurations and system interfaces
- Identify verification needs for configuration
- Use interface knowledge to participate in test planning for when modules are integrated
Your profile
The successful candidate must be a technological heavy-weight with a generalist’s ability to understand multiple technological areas and how they interact in a system. Moreover, you will:
- Be working closely with both R&D and Product Management teams in specifying system-level design input to ensure coordinated development efforts and sufficient level of testing in R&D.
- Rely on a strong technical background (Master of Science, or similar, with good merits), and at least 3 years of experience with complex systems, Systems Engineering and product development involving software.
- Take pride and joy in understanding technical complexities while always maintaining the end-user’s perspective.

- Maintain a methodical approach to your work.
- Still, you recognize the occasional need for trying new methods and using a controlled amount of “trial and error”.
- Have an eye for detail and appreciate good documentation.
- Are a team player and an outgoing and a strong communicator (written and oral English).
- Recognize the value of clear communication and of reaching good understanding with your stakeholders.
- Through your work, you will influence the successful outcome of a strategically important market for 3Shape, which closely aligns with our mission of providing superior patient care.
- Also help to lift our team to a new level, in a sometimes chaotic and fast-paced workday, while still having fun!
