For this new position DTU Space offers a unique opportunity as Product Assurance Teamlead within Measurement and Instrumentation. You will work closely with the Head´s of Quality and Mission Assurance s bridging the gap between numbering Fields.
The Measurement and Instrumentation Department develops optoelectronic navigation and magnetometers instruments, which are used on many international Space Missions. The divisions research focuses primarily on the development of high-precision space mission instruments. In addition, the department works to optimize the quality and reliability of Space Systems measurements by developing methods to calibrate and intercalibrate the systems.
The research includes the entire process from design, development, testing and verification to implementation of instruments for spacecraft and satellites.
DTU Space also offers related public consulting services – mostly related to Denmark´s membership of the European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA. The department works extensively with foreign Space organizations, universities and research institutes as well as companies within the Space industry.
Your areas of responsibility
In collaboration with the Head´s of Quality and Mission Assurance, you will be responsible for developing and defining Quality, Product & Mission Assurance standards, processes and methods for modern aerospace systems.
You will also be responsible for developing, tailoring, implementation and maintenance of Quality, Product and Mission Assurance standards and organizing the collaboration internally between researchers, engineers and management team. In addition, you will need to plan and perform inspections and controlling that the high quality requirements and standards are met.
You are also responsible for leading and motivating the team to achieve the agreed goals in collaboration with our Heads of Quality and Mission Assurance. This is to ensure that we reach the agreed goals on time and not least that our dedicated employees continue to thrive and are motivated.
An important part of the job is also to regularly report the status of sub-goals or other important information in relation to the delivery of the products to our Department Manager John Leif Jørgensen, the rest of the management team and flight projects. In addition, coordinate with other internal and external experts.
Our expectations for you - Managerial experience, high quality standards and electronics engineering
The possible background of the new Product Assurance Team Lead can include different combinations. Originally, you are expected to hold an academic degree within electronics or systems engineering and have a certain knowledge within electronic parts.
It is expected that you have gained managerial experience e.g. within quality management, technical management, project management, program management or similar and are motivated for taking ownership of this central responsibility.
You have experience within an industry area known for very high-quality standards, e.g. space, military, pharma, medical devices or similar. Experience with ECSS (ESA) standards e.g. GMP, NASA standards or Military standards or similar is expected.
As a person you are solution oriented, have good collaboration skills and communicate well with many different types of people. You can execute and run a project from beginning to the end.
The ideal candidate can furthermore be recognized in the following description:
- Experience from academic or scientific environment
- A development-oriented leadership style
- Experience within configuration management (documentation, hardware, software, etc.) and proofreading of documents
- Lead the professional work toward common goals
- Knowledge within reliability and safety
- Some knowledge within ionizing radiation effects is ideal, but not expected
- A systematic, consistent and persevering workstyle with focus both on the details and the “larger picture”
- Can fluently read and speak English – skills in Danish is an advantage but is not mandatory
- IT-literate incl. experienced user of Microsoft Office

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) or any other relevant agreement.
