JOIN OUR MARINE DEPARTMENT IN COPENHAGEN
The Marine and Foundations department in COWI is part of the Energy and Climate Infrastructure business unit and is undertaking projects from both the Nordic and international markets. We offer a comprehensive range of consulting services related to the development of ports, terminals, coastal and marine structures. Further, we act as a partner to help our clients understand the risks and if needed secure their existing or planned assets against climate changes.

EXTEND YOUR POTENTIAL WITHIN A TEAM OF EXPERTS
In this position you will join our global team of experts and work closely with project managers and specialists. You will be responsible for driving the structural design of port and marine structures, but also take part in a wider COWI network of designers servicing other markets such as offshore wind and transport.

On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for :

  • Delivery of state-of-the-art concrete design within marine structures (suspended decks, dolphins, quay walls, caissons, trestles, cope beams, intake structures…);
  • Ensuring that structural design is practical, buildable and fits Client’s design brief;
  • Providing or facilitating technical direction to members of your team on project;
  • Monitoring of staffing / schedule / budget on a design package and active dialogue with PM;
  • Active collaboration with marine and geotechnical teams to ensure optimal design;
  • Input to Design Basis, Design Briefs and other relevant basis documents on project;
  • Ensuring relevant procedures are followed (methods, QA, guidelines, etc.);

To succeed in this position, we believe that you should be a team player, be structured and detail-orientated, self-motivated, and be able to work under your own initiative. You are tech savvy and has aptitude for development.

Furthermore, you should:

  • Hold an M.Sc. degree with a minimum 7 years of experience in design of marine-related concrete structures;
  • Have an excellent track record in project delivery and experience of being a discipline lead (or inclination to);
  • Have a keen understanding of relevant building industry codes (Eurocode, BS 6349, PIANC, …);
  • Have basic understanding geotechnics, soil-structure interaction and typical modes of failure in soil retaining structures;
  • Have a least a basic knowledge of marine disciplines associated with port projects (quay equipment, scour protection, elements of navigation and port planning);
  • Be able to steer the design process and make decisions that help to keep the budget while reaching design goals;
  • Have the experience with distributed work and effective task allocation in such environment;
  • Be experienced with at least one industry-recognized BIM working environment (Revit, Tekla, Civil 3D, …);
