Our Graduate Programme
Our Graduate Programme offers you a unique opportunity to develop your personal and professional skills. Each year, we hire around 10 graduates for different business areas. We lead you through a two-year journey starting in September 2023. You will have 3 rotations working in different teams and with different projects. This will provide you with a broad understanding of our business and a strong network of people across functions. You will plan your rotations together with your Host Manager to enhance your development in the best possible way. You will be given a high level of responsibility from day one. We believe this is the best way to kick-start your career. As we are a global company, many of our graduates can also go abroad for one of their rotations.
The programme also includes visits of our different business units, and we offer you training sessions in project and stakeholder management plus communication and presentation skills. Besides that, you will join a fantastic network with many other graduates and can look forward to some fun team days and trips.
After successfully completing the programme, you will continue your career with us in a permanent role.
Your business area: Intellectual Properties
You will join Demant’s Intellectual Properties (IP) team which presently comprises 14 members. During your time in IP, you will work at the interface between R&D, Marketing and Management. Our task is to assist Demant in obtaining the optimal balance between protecting new inventions from our R&D organizations, estimating our freedom-to-operate on the market, ensuring the correct and necessary branding, and at the same time meeting business goals.
Working opportunities in IP are various and challenging – and interesting. You will have a chance to collaborate closely with R&D, including getting a detailed technical insight into current development projects in all of Demant’s business units. Thereby, you will be able to estimate and advise on freedom-to-operate, and to draft and prosecute essential patent applications to ensure that Demant has the strongest possible position on the market. Further, you will have a chance to join activities before the European Patent Office, where our own and competitors’ patent rights are frequently challenged, which requires us to argue before a tribunal of the European Patent Office both in writing and verbally.
You will experience a steep learning curve, where you will have to train your analytical, strategic, technical and innovative skills, and get an in-depth knowledge of the legal framework of IP. After completing the Graduate Programme, you will be offered a position as Associate Patent Attorney, and you will have the possibility to further educate yourself in a program to become a European Patent Attorney.
Your profile
You are about to graduate, or have graduated no more than two years ago, with a relevant Master's degree in Engineering or Science, e.g. M.Sc.E, M.Sc.. You are a top performer with excellent achievements in your studies, through your (student) work experience or extracurricular activities. You have furthermore gained international experience through a semester or internship abroad or similar. And last, you are fluent in English.
As a person, we believe that you are a team player with a high drive and passion for what you do. You are both strategic and pragmatic and go for the ambitious goal. You have a curious mindset, are hardworking, and - most important - humble.

Deadline for applications is 8th of January 2023
We then choose the most suitable candidates for video interviews, which take place from 11th-15th of January 2023. After that, we invite the final candidates for our assessment center, which takes place on Wednesday, 25th of January 2023 at our headquarters in Smørum. Personal interviews with the very last candidates take place from 30th of January – 3rd of February 2023.
