Group Sustainability Specialist to Royal Unibrew
Do you want to take on a strategic and international role within Sustainability, where you support the implementation of the Sustainability strategy across the whole organisation and all markets? Are you passionate about working with CSR in an organisation that invests in and is ambitious about being one the leading companies within sustainable operations across the full value chain? Then we recommend you to continue reading.
Royal Unibrew’s sustainability strategy communicates their aspiration to be recognised globally as a leader in sustainable beverages – delivering strong financial performance, together with strong local engagement and a neutral CO2 footprint. The strategic focus areas cover not only products, but also consumers and customers and people.
For more than two decades, Royal Unibrew has improved performance “inside the fence”. Now their journey will be further expanded to include the entire value chain to achieve their ambitious 2025 and 2030 commitments. To support the Director for Group CSR, this role has been established, and is expected to take over some of the strategic responsibilities and tasks. Together, they set the direction for the Sustainability agenda.
Setting the direction and overall KPI’s for Sustainability
The role as Group Sustainability Specialist is a strategic role that is to support the Sustainability strategy implementation across the organisation, functions, and markets. Together with the business, and through close collaboration with the ESG expertise area in Group Finance, this role identifies, prioritises, and communicates trends and requirements – and translates these into data and documentation to the Executive Management, Board of Directors, managers, employees, and external stakeholders – and initiates concrete actions based on data and findings.
Your tasks can be divided in 3 areas: 1) Strategy & Implementation, 2) Data & Documentation, and 3) Communication & Training, and specifically some of your tasks are expected to be:
- Challenge policies, targets, and activities on Sustainability issues.
- Calculate environmental and CO2 impact assessments based on LCA principles on materials, products, processes, and acquisitions.
- Develop, communicate, and make tools accessible to follow-up on performance.
- Drive SBTi development and implementation of relevant frameworks such as CDP, SEDEX, ECOVADIS and other relevant disclosure schemes.
- Identify and drive circular economy initiatives and potential options to harvest.
- Intensify responsible sourcing through keeping track of suppliers and their value chains.
In your role and capacity, you interact and relate with various internal and external stakeholders and enjoy great freedom in finding what way you want to take to realise Royal Unibrew’s ambitious objectives.
A professional, with passion for taking a tangible and measurable approach to Sustainability
We see you as a passionate and self-driven individual, who can align Sustainability initiatives with a commercial agenda. You are business-oriented and translate this into concrete metrics and initiatives and translate strategies into practice. Towards your surroundings, you can “sell” your key messages about Sustainability, and convince both the business, suppliers, and other stakeholders why time and effort must be invested. In your work, you move with ease between translating and executing strategies, preparing policies, and ensuring governance on the one hand – and on the other hand, you can also dive deep, be hands-on, and make calculations based on the environmental KPI’s.
Professionally, you are most likely working in a similar role today, where you cover the full value chain and excel in tasks related to Sustainability, and specifically, you are familiar with the following:
- Experience working with standards and schemes for Climate and CO2 impact assessments and calculations, but also working with social aspects such as Human Rights a.m.
- Experience in reporting and working with specific frameworks such as SBTi and GHG.
- Experience in advisory and making recommendations about what to improve / start doing to present Royal Unibrew even better towards external stakeholders and internally.
- Academic credentials on bachelor or master level from, e.g., Business Administration or Engineering.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Advantage with knowledge of EU taxonomy and other legal frameworks, but not a requirement.
Why this role and why Royal Unibrew?
Because you get a unique opportunity to influence and set the direction for Royal Unibrew should realise their ambitions for improving and documenting Sustainability data and performance. Also, you are part of an environment in continuous growth, and where there are opportunities for personal and professional development. Finally, the company has a size, where your contributions and efforts are recognized, and where you can truly make a difference.
