We are currently hiring for a Medical Science Liaison – Rare Diseases in full-time to join our Medical Affairs Team in Denmark.
Role Objective:
In the capacity of Medical Science Liaison, you will establish excellent external relations, based on scientific communication, and bring scientific insights to the cross-functional team. You will be the therapeutic area expert, understand the disease and treatment landscape and provide medical expertise and support for the therapeutic areas of responsibility to external stakeholders, and contribute to New Product Planning (NPP) for pipeline products in the Nordics and locally. As an Advocate for Patient Needs you will drive collaborative projects with patient organizations, generate and communicate evidence to external stakeholders and build strategic and value-based partnerships with Healthcare Practitioners (HCPs).
Your tasks in detail:
Medical/Scientific Affairs
- Participate in developing and implementing local medical strategy plan and activities
- Ensure correct interpretation and communication of scientific data of Takeda products
- Develop and implement scientific and medical education
- Provide accurate and non-promotional scientific information relating to licensed and unlicensed indications and pipeline assets following unsolicited requests from HCPs
- Proactively establish and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), understand their needs to personalize medical strategy and be a valued partner
- Capture and share in-field insights with relevant functions to support medical and scientific strategy and business development
- Participate in development and implementation of key medical activities, e.g. Advisory boards, medical education, and peer-to-peer training activities
- Provide clinical presentations and medical information as necessary
- Understand leverage points of the patient journey
- Participate in New Product Planning in therapeutic area(s) in collaboration with Nordic NPP lead and relevant Nordic and local colleagues. Implement local NPP actions, contribute to Patient Journey Mapping and support Patient Support Programs as relevant
- Contribute to Patient Advocacy within therapeutic are(s) in collaboration with Patient Advocacy Lead, implementing agreed activities with Patient Organizations
- Ensure high level of ethics and compliance in all matters
- Be accountable for keeping medical activities within budget
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Ensure alignment of medical activities with brand plan and strategic imperatives
- Ensure awareness and communication of medical activities and sharing of insights with cross-functional team and other departments in the local organization
- Contribute to core teams, brand planning and Value Based Key Account Management as needed; owner of MSL activities
Data Generation
- Drive local evidence gap analysis in alignment with the Nordic Centre of Excellence Evidence Generation (CoE EG), Europe HQ and global functions and external stakeholders and propose studies to address the issues
- Collaborate with CoE EG on study outlines and protocols for local studies; contribute to study conduct, data analysis and disclosure, reporting/publication and be point of contact to Investigators
- Liaise with CROs and other vendors for Takeda sponsored global studies as appropriate, being able to do supervision to fulfil regulations regarding local studies.
- Work to attract Takeda clinical trials within therapeutic area
- Support Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) in alignment with global IIR strategy and support Investigators as needed
- Act as communication link to authors of scientific publications about Takeda products
Understand Disease and Treatment Landscape
- Capture and share in-field insights in a compliant manner with relevant business functions to support medical and scientific strategy and business development
- Seek, collect, organize, and share scientific insights about key strategic questions, gaps and projects
- Organize and execute interactions with key stakeholders to uncover their needs
- Participate in the development and implementation of key medical activities, e.g. Advisory boards, medical education, and peer-to-peer training activities
Develop and Implement Scientific and Medical Education
- Continuously screen, review and analyze scientific literature; generate summaries and critical assessments if appropriate
- Present medical data to key stakeholders in the most efficient way leveraging understanding of their unmet needs
- Leverage scientific and medical discussions to deepen focus on defining clinical treatment pathways
- Identify and communicate operational understanding of healthcare systems across functions, including changes in the healthcare landscape
- Participate in the development and implementation of key medical activities (e.g. medical education and peer-to-peer training activities)
- Use specific disease and product knowledge to support Takeda’s product portfolio and act as a field based medical expert of drug and disease for Takeda
- Ensure consistent communication to external stakeholders of ongoing clinical trial programs when requested
Develop Internal Capabilities
- Attend local and global congresses to gather knowledge and information for dissemination to internal stakeholders
- Act as field-based reference point of scientific and clinical expertise for sales force and other internal stakeholders (e.g. Market Access) through training and ad-hoc support
Build Strategic Partnerships
- Support medical / scientific credibility through identification and development of sustained and trusted peer to peer relationships with external stakeholders
- Build and maintain partnerships with KOLs and stakeholders in current and future therapeutic areas of interest
- Understand the patient journey and provide insights to support medical and scientific strategy development
- Ensure all activities are in line with any local and/or international code of Practice and Takeda Processes

Your profile:
- Advanced nursing degree, PharmD, MD or PhD in biomedical sciences or related degree in
biological sciences - 3+ years’ experience in a pharmaceutical environment
- Strong MSL experience / MSL experience preferred
- A good understanding of clinical development and clinical study design
- Experience of working in a cross functional environment
- Fluency in English and Danish
