The position is based in Novo Nordisk HQ in Denmark.What to expect
The Vice President of R&D Procurement is ultimately responsible for setting and executing category strategy across the full and global R&D value chain. You will deliver this through own immediate teams as well as through close collaboration with regional and functional procurement teams across Novo Nordisk. R&D procurement has a strong global footprint with a solid category management and procurement execution setup and continues to adapt to the rapidly evolving needs of an expanding global organization. Besides category management a key focus in R&D Procurement is the establishment and ongoing procurement support of our R&ED sites globally. As head of R&D procurement you will Lead Procurement Best Practice for R&D Globally, take accountability for or ongoing global strategic sourcing projects, overseeing alignment and coaching of Managers within your team as well as Procurement Heads from Global R&D sites . Further you will lead Procurement M&A within R&D and hereby play an important role in Novo Nordisk’s expansive M&A strategy where we are heavily involved in all phases of R&D driven acquisitions.Your main responsibility includes:
• Develop risk management strategies to minimize interruptions across the R&D value chain.
• Foster collaboration among global R&D procurement teams and integrate acquired companies.
• Ensure team proficiency in GxP processes and drive best practices in procurement.
• Conduct sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management within R&D.
• Continuously assess global opportunities and implement category strategies.
• Evaluate supplier performance, negotiate agreements, and mitigate risks.
• Drive high-priority strategic procurement projects and identify business opportunities.
• Own R&D frame agreements, ensuring compliance with Novo Nordisk policies.
• Develop leaders and specialists within the global procurement organization.
• Represent Corporate Procurement across relevant R&D forums and councils.
• Collaborate as a member of the Corporate Procurement Management Group to drive global strategy.Qualifications
We are seeking a dynamic individual with a minimum of 8 years of Leadership within strategic procurement/sourcing and category management. International experience in a global organization is preferred, with expertise in developing impactful procurement/sourcing strategies and negotiation.

Corporate Procurement consists of +180 dedicated professionals located primarily in Bagsvaerd, managing all indirect categories, global system & process excellence and CoEs covering Business Intelligence, Projects, Sustainability, Risk management and SRM. Closely linked to our shared service center in Bangalore, India we secure that procurement strategy and sourcing value is effectively converted into operational excellence. From a sustainability standpoint, we work directly with suppliers to address environmental impact and drive change to reach our ambitious 2030 goal of relying on all supply to be 100% based on renewable energy. The Corporate Procurement department builds strategies and executes improvement projects to optimize the global indirect spend of more than DKK 50 billion related to Facility Management, R&D activities, marketing services, travel, professional advisory services, and IT.
