My name is Rashed Nakkache, and I am leading the Architecture & Development area in Svitzer Technology. I am looking for a Technical Product Owner to join my team in a newly established role. In collaboration with scrum teams and product owners from commercial and/or operations you will be creating products to drive operational efficiency as well as products to support our future strategy of taking a lead in our industry within decarbonization. In this role you will get an outstanding opportunity for developing our Technology organization further with regards to software product development and shaping this further together with me and our team.

As a Technical Product Owner, you are an expert using your technical background to bring the technical and business side of product development together. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of both our business and the products allowing you to guide technological and architecture changes and decisions and ensure that these are well anchored in our Architecture and Development team. With your knowledge on the technical side of product development, you will be a strong partner for the product owners, and you will together ensure to define a balanced product backlog that aligns with the business needs, architecture, design, and delivery towards business goals. Initially, you are expected to be technical product owner for two software development products.

Most of our business is to support container vessels, cargo ships, cruise ships and navy vessels but we also attend to emergencies like vessels being adrift or offshore fires. Architecture & Development is a small and growing team in Technology. Our team is consisting of solution architects, developers and soon also UX designers and you. As we are building the team, you will have the chance to influence how architectural frameworks, standards and guidelines will be shaped. Automations, CI/CD, and APIs are big on our agenda, and you can be part of defining the frameworks and tooling for these, enabling effective technology. We have a cloud first strategy, favoring SAAS and PAAS/IAAS. We run on Azure, and we use Azure DevOps for development. Here you will have the chance to work with the latest technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Be a strong partner to the product owner by assisting and advising the PO on critical technical decisions aligned with your team
• Help the POs to add and prioritize stories concerning technical debt or technical enablers for business features
• Responsible for defining and communicating a shared technical and architectural vision for the product aligned with architectural guidelines
• Assist with the product roadmap planning, ensuring complete visibility for both business and technical items
• Ensure product technical wiki and relevant documentations are up to date
• Act as a technical advisor to stakeholders such as business owners, scrum masters, and members of the scrum team
• Highlight and help resolve cross-team dependencies if any across the products
• Participate in backlog prioritization and sprint planning
• Analyse dependencies and engineering complexity
• Communicate technical solutions and dependencies in an understandable form with regards to what the product can and cannot do from a technical perspective
• Contribute to developing our Technology organization within software product development

We are looking for

Someone who is passionate about working with software product development in the sweet spot between technology and business driven by the vision to create higher business value and better outcomes via technology. You love software engineering, understanding modern technologies and truly want to enable the green agenda of our company and create differentiation through software product development. You take ownership for your area of responsibility and contribute to transforming and improving the way we work in the technology organization, especially within product development.

Your background is related to technology with demonstrated ability in similar roles with an engineering, architect, or developer background. You have worked with cloud solutions, preferably Azure, using Azure DevOps, you are familiar with web development technologies including APIs, UI frameworks, and Testing, and have a basic understanding of cloud security with strong awareness. You are a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others and believe in a collaborative approach to delivering value in an agile setup.

It is important you communicate in a clear, concise, professional, and direct way and are fluent in English. This combined with your excellent technical background and extensive analytical thinking, makes you great in presenting ideas, doing research to learn modern technologies, inspire creativity in technical solutions as well as communicating the technical vision strategy for the product considering the interests of all collaborators at different levels of the organization. You build strong trusted professional relationships with your key partners making your recommendations trusted by all sides.
