The World Diabetes Foundation (WDF) is seeking a Programme Manager
About the World Diabetes Foundation (WDF): World Diabetes Foundation is an independent foundation, working under Danish Foundation Law, with focus on diabetes in the developing world. WDF was founded by Novo Nordisk in 2002 and has since start supported more than 550 projects in 116 countries. For more info see www.worlddiabetesfoundation.org. The position
You will be joining a team of 20 ambitious and dedicated colleagues in a dynamic organisation which values good team spirit and strong interpersonal relations.
You will independently monitor a diversified portfolio of close to 30 projects in the South and Central America region in accordance with WDF’s vision, strategy and procedures. Maintaining strong public relations in partnership with governments, NGOs and other key stakeholders, and validating and producing project reports to ensure that WDF’s support towards capacity building & advocacy leads to sustainable and quality project outcomes.
As a learning organisation, we catalyse knowledge transfer and disseminate the wealth of innovative approaches and best practices developed by our local partners.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day coordination, administration and QA of allocated project portfolio, incl. validation of progress, outcomes and financial reporting from partner organisations.
- Proactive stakeholder engagement, coordination of project pipeline, processing of incoming applications and preparation of technical assessments for Board review .
- Field visits to monitor project execution on site, document and align joint expectations and reporting on project progress. Frequent travel to developing countries is a critical element of the assignment. Commensurate to approx. 8 weeks a year.
- Dissemination, communication and presentation of projects results, incl. local media.
Skills - Experience and Requirements:
A successful programme manager will have the following:
- Master’s in public health, political science, social science, international development studies or another relevant field.
- Full proficiency in written and spoken of English and Spanish is a must; Knowledge of Portuguese will be an added advantage to this position.
- Three to five years relevant experience with a proven track record in project management, preferably in the area of public health, within the NGO community or bilateral/multilateral aid agencies, is a prerequisite. A minimum of one years posting in a developing country would be preferred.
- You are persistent and systematic in your follow up.
- You are able to synthesise, analyse, communicate and present complex and comprehensive data.
- You are a self-motivated and strong team player.
- You are an experienced process facilitator and thrive in an international, multi-cultural and engaged work environment.
