About the role
Maersk Fleet Management and Technology (FMT) is looking for an Environmental Manager who will help shape the marine environmental policies and guidance for its global fleet.
FMT is responsible for the safe and efficient worldwide engagement of the entire Maersk fleet with 13000+ strong seafarers well supported by highly experienced teams based out of Denmark, Singapore, and India.
As part of the Fleet Environmental and Regulatory team, you will be front and center in these exciting times where new environmental regulations are shaping the future of ocean logistics. Green fuel technologies towards our commitment to become net-zero carbon in 2040, whale preservation, cleaner oceans, marine biodiversity and ecosystems are some of the areas where you will work alongside experts in the field, influence and implement change.
This is a business-critical role and will be part of driving the transition journey.
We offer
An exciting position based in Copenhagen where you will be driving the environmental regulatory compliance across the Maersk fleet and bringing regulatory insights to Fleet Technology teams to co-create value and sustainable change. You will report into the Team Manager Fleet Environmental and Regulatory and work alongside a team of dedicated environmental and regulatory managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Ownership of Environmental Management System. Closely collaborate with internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies to create and maintain fleet environmental policies, management plans and guidance.
- Lead and be a key contributor on diverse internal and external projects from ocean biodiversity, marine litter, green fuel technology, recycling/circular economy incl. presentations for management teams.
- Engage with other APMM environmental teams – Corporate Sustainability, APMT, ocean, and landside logistics along with regional teams on converging issues and ensure policies are aligned across the Organization towards regulatory optimization.
- Be responsible for modelling the value of compliance under International, EU and regional regulations, setting direction, providing regulatory insights, and monitoring overall evolution.
- Creating guidance on ocean ESG and biodiversity strategy of Maersk
- Drive ISO14001 standard. Stakeholder engagement to ensure key requirements are met through optimum target setting and delivery.
- Serve as a role model for Maersk's purpose and values.
- Foster a collaborative mindset and behaviour across the enterprise.
We are looking for
- Knowledge of marine environmental legislations, regulatory framework, and shipping industry experience.
- Process optimization with a structured and lean mindset
- Project management experience
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills to engage and drive clarity both before internal and public audiences.
- Ability to prioritize and perform effectively in an area with high complexity and ambiguity. Therefore, analytical and problem-solving skills are highly desirable.
- ISO14001 certification is desirable.
- Risk assessment and management is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills in English, with a flair for public speaking.
