We offer

You will become part of a newly established team focusing on securing Maersk Line’s supply of green fuels to enable our zero-carbon transition. The team is about to expand at a rapid speed, as we are building a new internal organization. As a Business Controller, you will support the Project Development Team and you will be responsible for the project controlling for a group of large-scale infrastructure projects.

Your ability to build trust towards key stakeholders and deliver high quality financial analysis to support decision making and performance management are key for succeeding in this role.

The role is based in Copenhagen, but scope is global, and few travel days should be expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support business stakeholders estimating and planning cost and developing large scale Power to X project budgets, estimates and support material for investment decisions
  • Set up project specific governance structure and controls
  • Act as financial sparring partner to the project teams
  • Review and approve contracts, purchase order requests (for projects in development phase) and challenge unjustified spend
  • Control and monitor project spend vs forecast (DEVEX, OPEX and CAPEX) and if needed, draft corrective actions in collaboration with business stakeholders
  • Maintain a risk register, regularly review projects risks and opportunities and develop risk mitigation plans in collaboration with the project teams and other business stakeholders
  • Update business cases and assumption books for projects in scope
  • Prepare presentations, reports and ad hoc financial analysis for senior stakeholders, SteerCo and BoD
  • Represent finance in project meetings and SteerCo
  • Provide day to day financial support to finance colleagues in SPVs
  • Assist accounting during the monthly financial closing by providing input on accruals and reviewing accuracy of accounting postings
  • Preparation of project dashboards and monthly financial reporting to senior management and project team
  • Assist FPnA with explanations on deviations between actual project spend and forecast
  • Provide input for RoFo and business plan

Who we are looking for - skills needed

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in business administration or finance combined with 3-5 years of experience as finance business partner or business controller, preferably with infrastructure projects.

Furthermore you have

  • Advanced technical skills in Excel & Power Point (pivot tables, financial & statistical functions, presentations, charts)
  • Experience with financial modelling and good understanding of key financial metrics
  • Good communication, reporting and presentation skills
  • Good stakeholder management skills and ability to build trust and good business relationships with stakeholders at different levels and across functions
  • Comfortable working in international environment with ambiguity and constant change
  • Self-starter and able to work effectively with little supervision
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
