Have you been involved in selection and financing of pre-clinical start-ups? Have your companies ever considered you a co-founder? Would you like to be a Senior Business Developer that discovers and develops the next generation of therapeutic businesses?
BioInnovation Institute (BII) - a Novo Nordisk Foundation initiative - is looking for a new colleague, who will be responsible for selecting therapeutic companies to enter the BII and help them progress towards a Series A financing.
Founded in 2018, BII promotes research-based innovation in the Life Sciences and helps build start-up companies to ensure that such innovations become widely available for the benefit of human welfare and society.
We incubate our start-ups in a new, vibrant, collaborative workspace in Copenhagen bringing together entrepreneurial researchers and biotech builders that advance new life science companies towards the clinic. BII provides start-ups with more than funding and infrastructure; we provide the knowledge, experience, and network of the business development team to advance their science, complete their team, and raise their Series A. We have ambitious goals and want equally ambitious team members to join us and make a difference.
For the first three years of operation, the BII has been granted DKK 465 million by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, one of the world’s largest research charities.
The Job
As Senior Business Developer you will be Involved in all aspects of deal scouting, analysis, execution, and assisting companies obtaining Series A financing. You proactively scout deals based on experience and network and select projects that are well suited for the BII call programs. As Senior Business Developer you negotiate budgets, milestones, and convertible loan documents with potential BII start-ups and are comfortable with legal and corporate aspects of corporate financing. You act as project anchor on companies and guide them to execute on their plan - especially with team development. You act as wingman to the CEO in her Series A fundraising and aren’t shy about giving required feedback along the way. Throughout the process, you are comfortable managing stakeholders such as the CBO, CEO, VC investors, and BII partners.
You will be a part of the already established Business Development team and collaborate closely in solving problems, improving the BII process, and telling the BII story to VC’s and Pharma companies. You make your colleagues better and let them make you better.

- Scout deal flow
- Coordinate diligence of BII applications with external parties and junior staff
- Make recommendations for companies to enter BII
- Onboard, anchor, and assist BII companies raising Series A financing
- Independently run BII BD initiatives such as BII partnerships and new programs
- Travel to Life Science conferences representing BII and the BII portfolio
Your Profile
Education:
- MSc, MD, or PhD level in relevant field (Natural Sciences, Medical Sciences)
Relevant professional qualifications:
- Experience in the evaluation, selection, and execution of therapeutic projects towards value creating endpoints
- Demonstrated ability to understand research results and the potential transition of these into commercial opportunities, preferably from the Venture Capital Industry
- Demonstrated experience with early stage projects and start-ups within drug development.
- Established network within the life science investment and drug development community
- Project management skills and ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously
Relevant personal qualifications:
- Strong team player with an ability to support and challenge colleagues and stakeholders as needed
- Comfortable in a continuously changing environment
- Professional, quality-conscious, and protective of personal and employers brand
