We know the value of a great Data Engineer and we are looking for one that can create the foundation for advanced analytics and machine learning in Novo Nordisk Product Supply. If you have experience with designing data pipelines and the ability to translate complex logic into data solutions, then you might be our new colleague to contribute to a variety of exciting digitalization projects in Novo Nordisk!
The position
As a Data Engineer in our Manufacturing Intelligence team, you will be working with some of the most data savvy people in the company and on some of the most exciting advanced analytics projects across Novo Nordisk global production.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Collaborating with cross-function teams and IT to design and build data pipelines for cleaning, transforming and combining datasets from wide variety of data sources.
- Understanding the business stakeholders and business problems and apply your knowledge to deliver the outcomes
- Design data architectures in proof-of-concepts and production environments
- Analyse and assemble data from different data sources i.e. IoT telemetry, historian databases in real-time or batch manner and build the data-driven solutions
- Support fellow Data Engineers and Data Scientists on new project initiatives to ensure consistency in the optimal data delivery architecture
- Taking an active part in driving data and analytics
When joining our team as a Data Engineer, you can expect to grow your knowledge of manufacturing and process engineering. As we are relatively new team, you will have a large say in the choice of which tools we will use and will have a large fingerprint on the platforms we develop.
Qualifications
You have a master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or similar field and at least 5 years of working experience with designing data pipelines and AWS or similar cloud.
Furthermore, we expect you to have following qualifications:
- Experience in handling bigdata or real-time data, datalake, distributed processing framework i.e. Hadoop, Spark etc.
- Experience with streaming technologies e.g. Kafka, AWS Kinesis etc.
- Experience developing solutions on cloud platforms e.g. AWS, Azure, or similar
- Databases knowledge i.e. SQL, Postgres, or similar
- Experience with NoSQL e.g. HBase, MongoDB, Cassandra, or similar
- Experience with at-least one programming language i.e. Python, Java
- Working experience with CI/CD and docker is plus
- Exposure to IoT technologies is plus
As we are a global company and an international team, fluency in both spoken and written English is required. Danish proficiency is a plus but is not required.

About the department
Novo Nordisk is an international company with manufacturing sites around the world and sales affiliates in all corners. Data is collected from sensors, production machines, ERP systems, et al., and transformed into daily insights that enable decision makers at all levels to make evidence-based decisions or fully automate the decision-making process.
With the rapid advancement within data and analytics, we are expanding our team with Data Engineering capabilities. You will join a dynamic and diverse team of people who speaks more than 13 languages. As a part of a fairly new team, you will play an important role in contributing to developing both the culture, team as well as yourself. Our team is characterized with freedom under responsibility where we want to bring the best out of each individual. Our ambition is to be the frontier of data and analytics, use the latest techniques and software to draw greater insights and future predictions from the data and thus making a significant impact on how we manage the future Manufacturing operation.
Together with more than 100 manufacturing lines, we aim to build scalable platforms for extracting, transforming, and storing data along with tools for utilising and visualising the data. For instance, we are aiming to build a platform for streaming data from sensors, PLCs, and other sources, to visualise line performance and problems in near real-time. To this end we are developing our stack with Amazon Webservices, IoT, and open source streaming tools.
