The position
Novo Nordisk is significantly expanding the use of digital solutions in researching molecules and developing drug candidates. To ease this journey more sourcing capacity is needed. As Digital Senior Category Manager you will help expand our ability to execute high value and high impact digital sourcing projects within Research and Development.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
You will work together with skilled and top motivated peers in the global Novo Nordisk Research and Development organisation, the global IT organisation and up and down stream suppliers in the projects you participate in.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must be confident assuming sourcing responsibility and driving complex sourcing projects from initiation to negotiations independently. You are comfortable using data to drive evidence-based decision-making, complete high-quality complex analysis, and draw strong recommendations.
Further qualifications:
On a personal level you are self-driven and can create your own projects and deliver results independently. Stakes and values are high, so results depend on your ability to work as a team and utilize the best resources available each time. We expect you to be curious and understand the value chain in a large organisation and be prepared to build up knowledge on value creation within Research & Development.
Many of the projects we are engaged in drives changes across multiple organizations. It is therefore important that you have a political understanding, and the ability to work with various of priorities within Research & Development. Finally, you have excellent presentation skills and can communicate at all levels of the organisation.
About the department
You will become a part of the newly established R&D Digital Sourcing team within the Digital Data & IT (DDIT) Sourcing department. DDIT sourcing supports the global Novo Nordisk organization and is responsible for ensuring we help realise the Novo Nordisk Strategy where digitalization, automation and technology is at the core of our ambition and impacting the future trends. We invest significant resources in developing our employees through coaching, frequent feedback, formal training and by giving challenging responsibility to individuals.

The position

As Digital Senior Category Manager you will help expand our ability to execute high value and high impact digital sourcing projects within Research and Development.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
- Drive complex sourcing projects – from idea creation, scoping, sourcing, to contract negotiation and implementation
- Build trust – actively work to secure procurement involvement in sourcing activities, turn procurement into a trusted partner to Research and Development by adding value and ensuring business needs are understood, prioritized, and met
- Manage supplier relationships - including supplier segmentation and strategy development and execution of planned activities
- Business development - engage with users in Research and Development to develop and quantify ideas for new projects, substitution, or value-adding activities that generate benefits and savings to Novo Nordisk
- Support colleagues and take a proactive role in the continuous development of our sourcing department and our team

Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must be confident assuming sourcing responsibility and driving complex sourcing projects from initiation to negotiations independently. You are comfortable using data to drive evidence-based decision-making, complete high-quality complex analysis, and draw strong recommendations.
Further qualifications:
- 5-7 years of relevant experience working with, e.g., procurement projects, sourcing, category management, supply chain, or business development, preferably within life science and digital. Experience in sales and consulting would be considered an advantage
- Degree (M.sc. or BA) in, e.g. social science, economics, law, business administration, Engineering or similar
- Strategic and innovative mindset and can provide hands-on operational support, if needed
- Strong sourcing toolbox, and understanding of procurement to pay process, and excellent execution skills
- Excellent stakeholder management skills to help drive change management in a diverse customer landscape
- Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Fluent in English, written and orally.
- Pharma knowledge is good to have but not considered a must
