The position
The Modalities and Pharmacology Business Capabilities Leader will use their strong knowledge of digital, neural networks, strategy, drug design within different drug modalities (e.g., proteins, peptides, siRNAs, stem cells, gene therapy) to advance Novo Nordisk’s drug pipeline. They will use their experience to determine the most impactful areas where digital can be used to develop novel insights that can enhance the drug portfolio or accelerate our speed to market. The successful candidate will partner with scientific stakeholder to define the scope and value of future data and software product initiatives, and with technical stakeholders determine the appropriate architectural approaches and resourcing required for implementation. The lead will carefully balance the introduction of new products, with the retirement of old products, and reduction in technical debt.
Your key areas of responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Develop strategies and roadmaps for digitally enabling pharmacology and several drug modalities through business capability models and other tools. Develop deep understanding of current technical capabilities including data and software products. Partner with scientific and technical stakeholders to identify, prioritise and resource future data and software product development. Balance the needs of new product development against retirement of old solutions, and reduction in technical debt. Direct business analysts to understand product requirements. Keep scientific stakeholders informed on progress with strategic initiatives.
The role of Business Capabilities Leader is that of a pivotal individual strategic contributor. The successful candidate will partner very closely with stakeholders across R&ED. They will partner with peers to develop digital solutions that cut across Business capability areas and will direct the work of Business Analysts. They will have a proven track record of creating business results with impact at the VP level.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you have: Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, chemformatics, Generative AI or similar with 5+ years of experience. Strong vision as to how data and digital technology can be used to optimize pharmacology and the identification and optimisation of drug modalities/design. Ability to describe the value of technology projects. Knowledge of deep learning algorithms and experience in developing and implementing generative models such as generative adversarial networks (GAN) and variational autoencoders (VAE). Demonstrated expertise in establishing the groundwork for the use of Generative AI in drug design. Outstanding communication skills for working with colleagues at different levels in the company and in different disciplines. About the department You will be a part of the Business Capability department in Data Management & Informatics (DMI) area, where we are responsible for providing scientific data and software products to support the global research and early development organisation at Novo Nordisk. Our work spans driving digitalisation of laboratories, enabling scientific data capture, creating harmonized data for analytics, and providing informatics tools. We enable disruptive innovation and data driven decision making across areas that include disease understanding, molecular design, portfolio management and external scouting.
